A friend of mine that works at HMV just told me that the supplier didnt send out the copies to any stores today

called a lot of stores on my break today and no luck. Most places said thursday, friend call westbrook eb and the guy answered like this, "Hello, eb games where nhl 09 does not come out until thursday" lol.

You guys do realize that stores get charged a hefty penalty for releasing games before their intended release dates, so don't expect to get the game before the 11th.

Man this sucks, surely they must have known demand was going to be sky high. I really wanted to play it tonight, I've already played the demo far too much -_-

I called HMV and they said they have it but they can't put it on the shelf til the 11th. What the fuck, if the street date is the 9th = you can fucking sell it that day.

I've been a gamer for way too long and hate being lectured on the can/can't by people who probably didn't own a system until Xbox...

Edit: Well there's a toss-up of info between the 9th and the 11th as the street date. Games are released on Tuesdays though, so I don't know why it would arbitrarily be released on the 11th. For the last million years the "ship date" has traditionally been the street date, though they called it "ship date" because stores don't get it until later (i.e. 2 days later). But if the store already has it, they should be able to sell it. The ship date and street date should be the same. I think people forget that... or just don't know that. If you're going to list a date, it should be the street date and that's that -- the "ship date" can be anything depending on which retailer you're looking at.

Ea Website is way off, the sooner they get the game on the shelves the sooner they make the money, that was a projected date.
