pay close attention and you'll see one laying on its side, the "pointy" side of the pylon "points" to the direction you are to go around the pylon it is resting beside.

but usually its, "go around the standing one, not the laying one(s)"

you have a course map, then you walk the course. then you get your timed runs.

the fastest run from the morning with your fastest from the evening is your total score.

so you pretty much memorize the track, it's not that hard.

yeah, that was not me driving when it went towards the wall. it was a friend of mine. we co-drive the car for the CSCC and the SASC solo 2 events. I was a little scared for him, but he still had 3 feet to go!

the best part of that was ..... a friend of ours that we race with asked him to take his brother for a lap, and scare the @#$!% out of him. we had just taken off our Hoosiers and put the street falkens back on. so he was pushing hard but used to the stickiness of the A6 race tires.

It was my car, and I was driving it when I headed towards that wall. And it looked WAY worse from the drivers seat -- that wall coming right at you is scary. All I was thinking was "$%^#$^ -- I have a damned expensive repair bill in my near future".

It was just idiocy on my part. I was refusing to back off, even though the tires were acting greasy and the car was oversteering badly. The moral is: never try to impress your passenger A better moral is: listen to what your car is telling you.

Glad you didnt hit the wall.
I was out at the track today with the silver E39 M5.
The traction control was kicking in on EVERY corner and it only went sideways once... Luckily not into a wall

Traction control and autoslalom just do not get along together. No way you can turn yours off?

I've always enjoyed driving on the oval side for AutoX when the track is laid out close to the wall. Lots of people give themselves more room for margin of error, which slows 'em down. I used to go balls out inches from the wall and gain a whole lot of time on everyone when I ran CSCC Solo 2 a few years back in the SLK32. It was really the only way I had a chance when we ran the oval, since the SLK sucks at low speed courses with a lot of transitions.

Once you're confident with your car on banked corners tho, the risk is very minimal. Just have to trust yourself .
