oh great brads back.
I thought you would be happy? He breaks everything, has to buy from somewhere
Show me a 800-900whp turbo with a more "optimal" efficiency range than this s372 for the price. Spool up has never been a problem with my 62-1. This turbo has been shown to spool similar to a GT40R despite being larger than a GT4298R...which sounds good to me.Originally posted by Jason Lange
Exactly what I was thinking. Why not just use a smaller turbo in its efficiency range and make similar power (and have lower rpm spool).
Problem is the turbo came today, and the dimensions and raw size of it is bothersome. I have nothing but clearance issues everywhere i look. Some serious re-fab'ing will be required. I will try and post some pics of what im up against.
...but yes, the current turbo setup is limited to somewhere in the 600-650whp range. I thought i would just do it right and max out the turbo size now instead of leaning on my 62-1 turbo and running out of steam then upgrading. Go big.

Makes more sense now that I understand your power goals. I didn't realize you'd be pushing that much power through that motor. Sounds fun (and insane).Originally posted by XES

Awesome!!!! Good to see you still have the car around Brad, I look forward to seeing that car run again.
I like neat cars.
Thats a sick setup, 900hp... Im just curios of what you think of this turbo Garret GT3040R? .70 AR... I know your goal is totally different, just wondering your opinion. I am near completeing my engine, need a few more things and Im ready to assemble this engine and stick it on a dyno to get it tuned. My block arrived from Endyn's shop about 2 months ago. Sleeved line bored, everything machiend and fitted up. all the headwork done. wiesco rollerwave pistons the works done. Im hoping to hit around 450-600 whp area...

30rs are good turbos, but you'd be pushing it to get 600.. You'd need spray or something too I would think, since the 35r's territory is more around the 600.. Just be warned, all this hype on the 30/35r's could turn sour someday should those center sections start going out.. I know some guys who only had them last a day or 2, then oil troubles and the turbo is garbage. Non rebuilable. We will see.
Heres a 30r vs a S374
lol not even close hahah
for 600 look at a 35r (pretty much maxed out) or the bw s368.Originally posted by ancient

to the op good luck holding a trans together on 26's with anything over 650whp. Better call up m factory or saenz right now and get some straight cut gears and a handcuff.
Those damn Schwitzers are huge.... I was gonna go with some sort of S400, but quickly back pedaled and got a PT88... similar power, much smaller package... but yeah, at least double the money.
362 will do 600 easy enough, 366 to make damn sure. 368? is there even one? I never see it listed, perhaps though, as I do see a 364 now and then. This is my 362 for a size comparison:

We went for some initial tuning runs last night with the new turbo. It's pointless to attempt to describe the sound and speed. We did one 3rd gear pull. My definition of acceleration has been altered.
In 3rd he made 23lbs of boost and zero traction issues.
Scariest 3 seconds of my life. Period.
lol sick
That thing won't even be awake yet at 23lbs..
If that wasn't awake, I prefer it remain sleeping.
