need help HID identification D1S/D1 ballasts?

need some help sorting out what i got here?

the ballasts are marked phillips (supposedly from a GM vehicle) and are identical except for one marking;

one says D1S and the other D1?
both are marked 35W/1200VAC/2000HRS


turns out the bulbs i got are different; one is a D1S but the other is D1R

i understand the bulb D1R is for a reflector type housing, the D1S for a projector


my question is if i use two identical bulbs (D1R or D1S) will the ballasts work the same?

what i'd like to do, is use HID in a set of these?

i'm thinking a pair of D1R in these housings might be right?

the other

otherwise they are identical
