    Default Name Mispelled on Ticket

I got a ticket this month and noticed that my name was mispelled on the ticket, out of curiosity does this make the ticket void?
To be honest I would end up feeling to guilty to fight it as the cop was just doing his job and I was in the wrong.

But I just have never heard of this and how it effects if the ticket is valid or not.

may be thrown out, its the crowns discretion. First or last name makes a difference as well. Also, what was the charge? The seriousness may play a role.

Any time a friend has come across a ticket with invalid information such as name it was discarded at the crowns office, I have never heard of discretion due to severity of the offense, but who knows...

Not to hijack the thread but I had a ticket for non-renewed license which i forgot to do after my bday. Well I renewed it the next day but I noticed the date on the ticket was the same day that I renewed it (officer put the next day's date). So assuming that I get his notes on the ticket and the date/time written is after I renewed my license, would I be able to argue that this never took place?

depending what the ticket is, for how much, and if there is demerits.

If its something stupid forget it, it's not me taking a day without pay away from work.

My buddy had the date wrong on a ticket once, he was all set to go fight it and have it thrown out, but not before the cop would come to his house and re-issue one with the right name. I have heard that mis-spelled names and wrong dates make a ticket void, but don't quote me on that.

I have had friends get speeding tickets (this case was a 99 in a 50) with an incorrect name spelling. It was not thrown - crown said its mispelled, licence number still matches yours, heres your fine (in a nut shell).

They are not void, the officer has a certain amout of time to re-issue the ticket before it is tossed (i had a lot of experience [bad] with these issues)

    ^^
I didn't say it couldn't happen, just said I have never come across it with a friend, the worst ones i've heard were stop signs...
but even though the license plate is correct couldn't you claim that driver information would be invalid and it would almost get treated such as a photo radar and demerits not placed?? I'm not that up to date on my law, i've only ever had one ticket and it was a photo radar that I was not prepared to go admit to in order to fight...

licence = drivers licence number, not plate

im not bashing what you said, it seemed you were unsure, just helping.

depends on how messed up. A wrong letter isn't an issue, a completely wrong name is something different.

Now because of the mispelling identity is an issue at trial, but there are other identifers on the ticket such as license number, physical discriptors, etc.

Good thing he didn't mess up your drivers license number.

The last speeding ticket that I had was thrown out because the officer didn't put my DL number in his notes. I guess the name isn't enough.
