Ama Tow Truck Gave Me A Rock Chip

OK so it wasnt me, It was a friend. However i will type this as if it was me lol....
I get into a car accident a few weeks ago and went to have my car towed to the body shop lastnight. The driver drove around the f***** city with me following. Finally he finds the place and drops the car off. I get out and notice i have a long crack across my windshield. I freak out bla bla and the tow truck driver says i didnt notice that there before so dont worry ama will most likely cover it. This morning ama tells me its not there responsibility and that they would not be covering any of it.

Where do i stand with this, i know its only a $400 windshield, however i would think that ama's insurance would cover it. I would also think that they would do a walk around before towing to note any problems before they take it....

They're not going to cover it.

There is no proof, and it's something that happens to people every day, so there's no way they'd even bother. Especially with the fact that the car was getting towed from an ACCIDENT, which anyone could easily see causing a crack.

I hate to say it, but this sound fishy. It is exceptionally rare (especially when it's not winter) for a windshield to get a rock chip and crack immediately. I can't blame them for not covering it.

My own story: Several years ago I was towed for parking in a no-parking spot. There wasn't actually a sign, but they towed me anyway. I was pretty upset. But I was more upset when I found that they bent (and subsequently chipped the paint) on the rear valance. I complained, and the lady actually said "You're just upset we towed your car." Then I was REALLY pissed, but little I could do about it.

Towing companies just don't give a shit. It's a fact of life.

Yea i guess it could sound fishy....its my girlfriends and the car has less than 10000 km on it so she is super particular about knowing every little chip that shows up. I know it wasnt there before cuz i helped take damaged parts off. Understandable that they wouldnt cover it though.

Rock chips happen every day man. It is not their job to clean the roads. if they damaged your car being stupid that is one thing, but you can't hold them responsible for rock chips I would think...

Also you dont have proof it was from there truck, it could have been from another truck on the road infront of you, a vehicle going the other way, etc.

Insurance doesnt cover rock chips... otherwise you would REALLY be pissed at your premiums if those type of claims were covered.

Also, a crack may not propagate until a later time, so there might have been a smaller crack from the accident before, and the moving/towing of the car may have caused it to spread.
