anyone know of metal spur gears for a tt01, my upgrades made me pinion+spur shear right off. guess a 3300kv brushless and lipo with plastic spurs dont mix.
but did it ever drift easy
if anyone ever wants to come and check it out one evening, feel free to pm, i have a spare car with a few extra batteries that you could toy around with its a good time! theres usually 3-4 of us most of the time.
You dont need a metal spur gear in a tt01. I ran mine with a 5700kv motor on a 3 cell 11.1v lipo and NEVER shredded a spur gear. As long as you are smooth with the throttle it's no problem. Have you changed the pinion gear since you changed the motor?

yes, simply swapped it for another 19t pinion, made sure it meshed properly etc, never had any issues until i threw in the lipo, its only a 2cell aswell. did you carpet race yours?
mine is just straight drifting, never been too fond of carpet racing myself, driftings more fun,
can you make a traxxas stampede a drifter truck? lol
bet you any money i could... what size are your rims if you got a spare set i'll make you a set of tires for it.... tdrift tires are 30$ pair, so far ive spent 8$ and still got over 15sets left rofl.
I did a few things with mine. Started out drifting, then raced it, then made it into a dragster. Did you get a tamiya metric pitch pinion or a 48p pinion? Lots of people dont know that despite looking almost exactly like 48 pitch, they aren't. And running the wrong one is a great way to kill a spur, so I figured I should ask. :P The same thing happened to me btw, I thought it was the same, the frickin' guy at the hobby shop even sold it to me saying it would work, but.. nope.Originally posted by coop3rr

thats exactly what i was sold, a 48p pinion, i'll def have to look for the tamiya metric ones. any good places for tamiya hop ups.. pms got a lot of useless ones, the rear carriers by 3racing, useless without the universal joints made by them, and the solid rear axle is the same deal, need the universal joints pm has had them "on order" for weeks now.... its frustrating when you literally have to wait weeks and weeks for parts... gotta hunt down a new spur and pinion now ffs.
come out drifting one night! i got some spare sets of drift rims! and a spare body you know, incase you value your pretty one! hahah!
I've been thinking about putting another drifter together.. I could pick up a cheap tc3, might have to go that route..
As for the stuff at PM, their tt-01 stuff is really hurting since the local club stopped racing that class. I dont know who you talked to that said they were on order, but go back there (or phone) with the numbers for what specific 3racing parts you want, get them to order them and give them your name and number. That way they actually get ordered, your name will be attached and you will be holding the parts within 2-3 weeks.
As for the pinion, my recommendation, and I learned this through experience, is go to the tamiya wall at PM, the one with the gears on it, and grab one of the Robinson Racing metric pinions on the shelf. Right next to the tamiya pinions. Those are the correct pitch for your car, and they are hardened, so no worries about them wearing out like the stock one does.
