Default Photo Radar - Conviction, but no notice

Anyone had an experience where you recieved a notice of conviction for a photo radar ticket, yet never recieved any notice for the infraction... as I just recieved.

Not that it is a large fine, I'm just not impressed with a 20% fee being applied when I never recieved the notice.

Was your address up to date with registries?

You can go in within a short time span of getting the notice and fill out an affidavit to set aside a conviction. Explain that you never got the original ticket. You can then plead guilty if you so choose and pay the face amount sans the 20% penalty.

The address was up to date. Can I fill out the affidavit at a registries or do I have to make a trip somewhere else in Calgary?

It's only an $80 ticket before the 20% fee, so it isn't a big deal just annoying.

    Thank you for your feedback.

No problem - the affadavit has to be taken down to the courthouse and be taken before a Traffic Court Commisioner. It usually isn't an issue in a case like this, but can take a bit of time.

I found out that I got a PR ticket 15 months ago when I went to renew my registration last week. Nice 114$ suprise... they even had my DL on the infraction notice, it happened the DAY I moved so when I went to the registries a few weeks after the incident to update my address... it was already processed.

(I was under the assumtion that PR tickets dont get attached to a DL).

What a pain in the ass... it will cost me more to go down to the courts to deal with this then pay the 20%. One more reason why I despise this road "tax".

That sure isn't the full story...

The only thing that will happen if you don't pay photo radar fines is that your registry privileges will be suspended.

You will get your vehicle towed though, If you let your registration and/or driver's license lapse. If you let them lapse, it was either because you didn't bother renewing them, or you tried and couldn't because of the outstanding fines. The Registries Agents will tell you exactly how much you owe when you are denied vehicle re-registration or license renewal

So... it seems to me that you either got towed for forgetting to register your car/get a new Driver's License, or you knew about the suspended registry priviledges and drove anyways...

If I am wrong, please let me know...

But this guy from work said he'll buy it jus to use it for work or something , so he can have it if he takes it out of the police thing

So.... sorry, just to be clear here, you let your registration expire because you had outstanding fines? Is that right?
