Angry Negotiate a Vehicle Right Off??

So I finally hear back from the other party's insurance for what they will pay off my bike. It's pretty shit deal. Then again, when has a right off ever good??

Can I tell them I don't want what they want to offer me?? I want to negotiate more for my bike. If the money they pay me for a write off is the value of what my bike is at the time of the accident, then why I should be able to get the same bike to my door without a dime coming out my pocket. But that's far from it.

wat? You're supposed to properly insure your bike (as in if your bike is worth 8k, have it insured for that value, then you can fight to get that full 8k, but they won't pay anymore) If you tell them it's only worth 5k, when it fact it's worth 9, then you're screwed.. Take the cash and buy a new bike and/or buy your old one back for a track bike if you want that.

get a lawyer, they wont take you seriously until you do.

insurance companies are scammers, they'll take your money, but when it comes to pay it out, they play hardball.

his insurance has nothing to do it, he was obviously not at fault and it's the other party's insurance company that's taking him for a ride.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

They sure as hell better have something to do with it, why the hell would I pay an insurance bill and then fight my own battles when the time calls?

Correct, I was not at fault. As I mentioned, it's the other party's insurance co. that's paying for my bike.

Hmm, I should look into getting MY insurance to negotiate. No reason to hire a lawyers at this point is there?? So far other ins. co. has been talking to me directly. Might as well get my co. to do the dirty work, huh??

If I do get a lawyer, would small claims court be the way to go??

I always thought insurance companies pay what your car is worth at the time of the accident. Why would they pay you what you bought it for? People would be crashing their cars insteading of selling them then.

Ya that only applies to new vehicles though. I'm going on the assumption his bike is more than 3 years old.

and this is an extra billable feature. pretty sure he would know if he had it, as he would be paying for it.
