Default Someone reassure me my engine is fooked.

My #2 on my D16Z6 spun around, I have already pulled the motor out of the car, but I actually took it apart today and checked it. I'm wondering if would have gotten away with just replacing the bearing (since I don't know what to look for). The crank is grooved a bit but not much. Here are pics of the bearing, it is pretty messed.

A drug person can learn to handle such things as seeing their dead grandmother crawling up their leg with a knife in her teeth. But no one should be asked to deal with this trip.

Why can't he machine the block and either get a new crank or have it machined if it doesnt look that bad?

Actually the block may not have to be machined

he would need a new rod, machine the crank and have set of oversized bearings put in.

But it's probably cheaper to find a replacement engine out of a wrecked car and just drop it in.

Just replacing a bearing only is a no-go

Ahh yea thats what I thought, I just didn't read and assumed it was a main bearing hence the machining of the block comment.
But yea the engine is not 'caput' it just needs some work and you have the thing out anyway obviously. Rebuild/turbo time!
Its a pita to figure out bearing grades and sizes that you'll need though

I'd be afraid of where some of the bearing shavings could of gone inside of the engine.... If your going to rebuild it clean it very well.
