    Default Court Appearance Question

I've got a yellow ticket which says I need to show up between x and y time on z day. I'm wondering if I'm allowed to go talk to a Justice a week early since the day specified doesn't work for me.

I couldn't find an answer on the Gov't website and nobody picked up at the court's phone number at 4pm so I assume they were closed.

    Thanks.

That date is set merely as the last possible day, between those times, that you are allowed to visit. Trust me, i have had a few tickets...

    Sorry for the bump.

But if I was to go in before the court appearance date, would I just simply go and talk to someone about seeing the Justice? Wouldn't the issuing cop have to be there as well if the date is different than what was written on the ticket?

The date written on your ticket is simply the first appearance date. The issuing cop will never be there on a first appearance. You can go anytime before that to plead, bargain, or set a court date.

Do I go in to speak to the Crown Prosecutor or Justice of Peace? What happens after that?

I have reason to believe that the cop will be there on his First Appearance Date, as he looked to be a traffic cop.

Thanks for the help. I'm a total newb when it comes to this stuff, and doesn't help the nerves when the word 'court' is mentioned.

the cop won't be there. There is no trial or evidence given for a first appearance.
