    Default parking on residential street

Can you park facing either direction on either side of the street?

Out east, you had to park facing facing in the direction traffic flowed on your side of the street. Here it seems people park facing against traffic. Is this legal or just looked the other way at?

It's definitely illegal. My dad got a ticket a few years ago. I think it said something like "crossing the centre line"

I park my work truck on the wrong side all the time. I'm only there for 30-40 mins though, no problems in 3 years. A longer stay and you may get seen or receive a complaint.

There was an 18 inch rule. If you are more than 18 inches from the right hand curb then you can be ticketed. So if you are parked on the other side of the street then you are definitely more than 18 inches from the curb.

Illegal, but only ticketed when it's the CPS's "that time of the month" (end of quota time), or someone complains.

People park illegally all over my street, and our resident cop never bugs them.

I would agree with the center line thing simply because to get to that spot you have to drive the wrong way into traffic, not to mention pulling out as well.

Cops don't usually issue those tickets, they have by-law to do that

Is it legal to drive towards oncoming traffic? No.
Can you park that way without driving towards oncoming traffic? No.

    What's so complicated?

    I'm doing it right now!

Do it all the time in front of my house.

I also heard you can get tickets for blocking in a driveway... Even if its your own damn driveway. Anyone ever hear of this?

Yeah likely some rule, I know there is regarding driveways in general, so likely apples to your own for "emergency access" or something. And I've seen parking tards giving tickets to cars parked on the wrong side of the road befoe.

Thanks to the metric conversion it's 50 cm which is about 19.7".

    Two ways:
    A) Pull into a driveway and back up onto the wrong side of the road hugging the curb with the left side wheels.
    B) Stop on the road and then back up, angling towards the curb on the other side.

Your resident cop is on the take. If you're not paying him thank your neighbours for doing the deed.

Reading some of the responses to these posts, I'm praying people are just trying to be funny.

Yes, sadly I got ticketed for parking in front of my own driveway. My bitch neighbour parked and was illegally encroaching on the entrance of my driveway. I was pissed off and parked about 2" from her car boxing her in so she couldn't get out unless the vehicle behind her moved. She called the cops. I gave the pigs attitude (especially when they falsely accused me and told me that my driveway was illegal) and I refused to move my car. I think she gave the cops BJ's before they came over and talked to me because she didn't get any parking warnings or tickets. I got parking in front of a drive way because my infraction was more blatant than hers.

The driveway? I used 24"x30" patio blocks. The '5-oh said that isn't a REAL drive way. They asked me if I got a permit for it. When I said 'no', they declared it an illegal driveway. Before ever creating that drive, I double and triple checked with the City planning and bi-law offices. No permit needed, any construction materials go.

The ticket? I don't remember the price. This was back in 2002. I wasn't going to take a day off work to fight this, so I just paid it.

Parking on the wrong side of the street is for lazy goofs, and yes it's illegal.
