Default Dog dies during traffic stop

Just saw this on the news and I'm pretty disturbed from the whole event. Can't stop thinking about it, anyways here's the link to one of the vids
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kD1eO...eature=related

I just don't get why he couldn't escort the couple to the vet and if he wanted to, issue the ticket there or let the girl go and have the guy stay back. Whatever the case, fuck you, you inconsiderate, incompassionate, insensitive SOB!

There's no way in hell I'd pull over for a cop if my dog was minutes away from death. I'll take the jail time or whatever the punishment is, if it means my dog would be saved or even if there was a chance that he'd be saved.

    +1 crazy dog person

"You can get another one." Wow, what an insensitive fuck. Cops complain that they have a bad image because of a few bad apples, then seriously stop letting bad apples grow. Very unprofessional, should of escorted him to the emergency vet clinic then ticket him there.

Wow that cop is an ass, if he's gonna ticket them do it quick since they were obviously in a rush.

if the dog wasnt dead yet, but later died beacuse it wasnt taken to the vet soon enough...i would have sued that cop..even tho i know the cop did the right thing, but fuck hes unhuman, dogs are mans best friend, and from the look of the driver he cared lots for the dog

u cant just get "another" dog, its not the same thing...senseless things for a cop to say when the driver was so upset

This guy wins Giant Douche Award for stupidity.

If this were my dog i'd give the officer the go fuck yourself salute and continue on.

I think it was sort of a luck of the draw event. You hear stories about people rushing their pets to the clinic where they get pulled over and end up with a police escort. Sounds like this couple just got the wrong cop at the wrong time and technically he's in the right. Still, I'd feel pretty shitty if that happened to me.

While I completely understand the officers position, he was also a dick about the whole thing. He's obviously not a pet owner.

The cop was a dick, but he was doing his job.
It would have been extremely negligent for him to let that guy get back behind the wheel in the state he was in. The lives other people on the road are far more important than that of any dog.

That said, he probably could have done something. He stated "Look at how many units are out here because you were being stupid", indicating that there were other cop cars. Why not have one of them transport the dog to the vet? He wasn't obligated to do so, and it would have been above and beyond the call of duty, but I'd like to think I'd have done it anyway.

That's kinda disturbing. A good cop (in my opinion) would have taken the dog to the vet himself, or escorted the guy to the hospital.

"I really don't care about your dog". What an idiot.

In emergency situations I've heard of people that wave the cop up next to their vehicle and explain the situation. The cop then gets in front and escorts them to emergency services, dealing with the offense afterwards. Either that or call the cops, tell them the situation and they'll radio the officer behind you to tell them. Either may have been more acceptable than stopping and trying to explain it.

Officer Stephens, an Iraq War veteran, has been with the department for 15 months.

This explains things more, considering US troops have orders to kill most dogs there (as many are wild and dangerous).

My family's first dog got hit by a car late at night and the only vet clinic open late enough and close to me was the one by 4th Street NW & McKnight.

I drove down John Laurie at 160km/hr+, only slowing for red lights to make sure there wasn't oncoming traffic before ripping through. I even remember thinking... if a cop wants to give me a ticket, he can do whatever the fuck he wants when we get to the vet and I know my dog's getting taken care of.

I know it's irrational... I know I was probably a danger to other drivers on the road going the speed I was going and running 3 or 4 red lights, but you know what... I don't give one shit.

I can live with it today knowing that the night my dog died I did everything I possibly could to save him.

^That is retarded. At the end of the day it is only an animal and takes a 2nd place to a humans life, end of story. The owner if the video is being a fruit, what the fuck is he so worked up for, pansy.. Cop is right in this case as far as I'm concerned. When someone comes out of a hidden driveway or something and gets smashed by someone doing 160, you're going to feel a lot worse then having an old dog die.. They make new dogs everyday and I'm a dog guy.

.. But a farmer. Plus everyone loves puppies.

So you're a working dog owner, not a pet owner. To a lot of people, their pets are like children, a part of the family.

No. And also I've never bought that saying.. It's dumb, it's not like a child. Sure it's good to have around, but ask anyone with an actual child and suddenly the dog isn't as important anymore. The only people who can say that are whacked out old women who could never land a man and own 6 dogs and 47 cats.
