It’s been known since the outset that the Bugatti Veyron would be limited to just 300 units, but what would come next has been an unknown. Reports are beginning to emerge, however, that the company is planning an all-new model for 2011 or 2012. Latest reports indicate the company could crank output up another 20% or more, from the current car’s 987hp (736kW) to 1,200hp (895kW) - enough to reach 270mph (432km/h).
Specifics on the new car are few, but according to Autocar Bugatti CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen has announced the new car will be coming. So far the design priorities are that the car mesh with the company’s storied history and that it evolve the basic idea behind the Veyron. As Paefgen put it, “A totally different direction is not an option.”
