Default What to do? door ding by parkade neighbour.

Door Ding! I knew this will happen to me when I have a chinese parking neighbour beside me in my underground parkade. (I am chinese too btw) damn they can't frickin park even though I try to avoid being geting ding by parking slanted away from their car.

    Here's the story...
Went to start my car tonight and my alarm beeped twice so I know someone touched my car, went to the passenger side and not surprised...white paint on my passenger door. fricken wipe that shiet off and bam! a medium sized door ding! dam I just fixed a few dings in may this year. So I know is the white mazda3 who parks beside me...

What can I do now, any chance I can tell them to pay me up? his car is not there right now but I got a note up on the wall at the parkade stating that his Mazda 3 dented my mx5’s passenger side door with a door ding on Sunday Aug 24, 2008.
...I fricken hate door dings! people got no respect for other cars...

You wiped it off? Take any pictures? You know the neighbour is going to deny it. Any cameras?

Is there no more paint left?? If not, he'll most likely deny that it was him. If you see his car again, check to see if he has any damage?

the driver of the mazda 3 wrote the note?
why would he write the note then deny it after?

i'm always paranoid somebody will just fuck up my car in the parking lot and just run. damn it, people are so cheap. I WITNESSED a guy in brentwood parking lot BACKED up into this car, he "wrote" a note and drove off, I walked up to the note and GUESS what, NOTHING, he pretend to write some shit down. does brentwood have cameras?

Funny. Not the door ding (I sympathize) but the irony.

The best thing to do is be as nice as you can. This happened to me once, I left a super nice note under his wiper and he called me up the next day, apologized and wanted to pay to fix it. Only be a dick if they try to deny it.

Hopefully. But in any negotiation situation, it's always best to start off nice.

Usually people are pretty receptive to negotiations, if they truly believe they are at fault. But then, as the op mentioned, they're both Chinese....

Not sure if there is much you can do. Confront them and hopefully they do the right thing.

Had the exact same thing happen to me when I was in an apartment. Asian family parked next to me and I caught all of them hitting my door when getting out of their car. The parents and the child from the backdoor (since the parents did it)

I was nice and even asked them to be careful. So what happened. I caught them AGAIN!!

Nothing I could do though. All they would have to do is deny it and I am screwed.

yeah I wiped off the evidence. Didn't know it was a dent initally, thought it was just some white powder on my door, wipe that out and see the good size ding. oh well I left my number on the note...should have taken a picture since I have a digital camera in the car all the time. If she doesn't call, I will bump into her in the parkade or go find out which suite she lives.

We had a similar neighbor who drove a 4 door sunfire. There is a point on the back door that is quite sharp and would leave little tiny round dents in our car-all in the same spot and you could approximate where her door would open.

We just asked her to be more aware next time she is getting stuff out of her car. She was very apologtic and offered to have her boyfriend (who worked at a car dealership) fix it.

Wasn't that big of a deal and there were no more.

Your neighbor might be better about it than you think.

so my parking neighbour called me back just before 5 today. talked so defensively from start to the end stating that she did not ding my car (but she did admit she parked there yeterday?!?!) ^ Her dad parks there sometimes with a 4 door silver sunfire as well. maybe is her dad's car? but I am sure the paint left on my car is white.
Fricken bad temper asian chick saying she just parked there for 5 mins, blah, blah. saying my alarm is bs and on and on. (My alarm beeps differently when I unlock the alarm and if my car has been touched)

although it is not a big deal and probably 60 bucks to fix a good size ding, I don't take bs from asian chicks.

I am going to see if the edge of her door chipped some paint when I see her car.
