Default Grants for energy efficient home upgrades?

Apparently there are both federal and provincial programs available.

Anyone have any info or experience with these?

    My experience was unfortunate.

You cannot start ANY uprades to your home until you call one of the OK'd contractors to come in and do an energy assessment on your home which you must pay for.

Once its been done, then you can go nuts and add insulation, put in new windows, upgrade appliances, and all that jazz.

Then you will pay again for them to come out and do another assessment and see how much more efficient your home is.

Then you might* qualify for some grants.

I don't have the links anymore, but you can find it online. I think I had to call the govt to find out first.

Unfortunately for me, the work on my home already stared, and 80,000 dollars of windows, appliances, flooring, insulation - you name it qualified for SQUAT.

    good luck/

Only a thousand dollars for half of your energy needs? That's incredibly good.

Who did the design/installation? Where did you get your solar, and the associated electrical accessories (Inverter, batteries, etc)?

You should be able to sell your extra power into the grid for a credit. Thats your credit.
