Default Winter tires for the E90 335i.. Opinions ...

    Hi guy's

What is the best way to go with winter tires for the 335i? Should i just get winters put on the 18" wheels that came with the car or get a wheel/tire package without touching my rims?

Can i put 17" winters on the 335i. Will the brakes clear the 17's ?? Which will perform better 17's or 18's or doesn't really matter?

Also where is a good place to get these done? Tunerworks?

Like to get these put on first week of october.

    Any info would be great...

    www.tirerack.com

17" will clear and 17" will give you a bit more tire height to take on the rough winter roads.

I'm sure Tirebob and many sponsors here will help you out.

If you are going for a different set of rim, make sure to get the tire sensors.

The package should be around just north of $2K depending on rim choice.

My dad uses the style 161 rims for his 335i in the winter and they clear the brakes fine. He got a tire package from Tunerworks last winter (Dunlop Wintersport M3's) and they are a great tire! Plus he received great service.

The 335 in Canada does not have TPMS sensors. You can put any wheels that fits on there.

I use the 17" winter wheels that I had from my 330. Car looks a little stupid as it needs spacers in the back, but I don't care.

You can always use your 18's for winter and pick up a set of 19's for summer

Tunerworks, TireCraft and TireBob can hook you up.

You'll just run the same size tire all around. I'm a huge fan of Micheline PA2. Expensive but worth it. There are tonnes of options.

If you use your 18's for winter, can you use a staggered setup?

    ^^

    It's winter!!

You would just run a narrower tire all around. Narrower=better for winter. Plus you have the option to rotate them after a season or two.

    Hi guy's

Just Got the winter tire package from Tire rack. They are 17" bridgestone blizzaks. Hope they will perform good this winter. Will put them on on monday. They are saying might snow on tuesday, so perfect timing. The package cost me $1700..

    cheers,

^ WS60's are way better traction wise in snow and ice than the LM22's. LM22's feel like all seasons on dry roads which is nice, but you give up a lot on snow and ice. I personally rather have the mushy ride on dry roads during the winter and have the better snow and ice traction.

*edit* I should mention I have owned both

I've been using those tires on my E60 for 2 winters, and I have nothing but praise for Blizzak WS60's as well.
