    Default Adult Tricycles

Was just wondering if the Beyond community could help me out. I am looking to purchase an adult tricycle for my wife. I checked BowCycle and they do carry one model called the Tri Rider, so I will be stopping by this afternoon to check it out.

However, the retail price for this sucker is $650, which seems kind of high to me.

Does anybody know of a place that sells these things in Calgary ?

    Thanks in advance.

I can't help you but am curious, why does your wife need a tricycle?

And what kind of guy calls himself an angel...?

Maybe it's code for his wife, and thats why she needs a tricycle.

As expensive as that seems, my girlfriend's family paid more than that for a similar unit for someone that is disabled.

When I worked at michelin we used to use them for getting around the plant.. Just because the place was HUGE... 60 acres under roof I believe....

Her inner ear was ruptured when she was young and she has issues balancing on a normal bicycle.

I would check with Bow Cycle or The bike Shop, Regardless you can buy them at Walmart in the US for under $200.00 we did this for my brother in law. The cheapest we could find in Calgary at the time was $950.00.

Even e-bay has them for way less, we bought our tandem that way for under $400.00 brand new, brand name and shipped.

Yeah... I have to agree with JfuckinC. When I was biking around some this summer, I saw some disabled people just tearing it up around the Confederation Park bike paths, grinning like they stole the damned things, on trikes. Made me feel all nice to see people with one leg, the mentally challenged, or the elderly still able to enjoy the joy of cycling

That really isn't expensive at all. Buy something like that for 3 or 4 hundred bucks and have nothing but headaches with it cause it's a piece of shit and she won't enjoy riding it. Dept. store hunks of junk are heavy as hell, made out of garbage and full of shit parts that can't be replaced half the time when they break, which they will.

Spend the proper amount of money and she'll get years of enjoyment with minimal maintenance/extra expense.

For some reason, the title of this thread led me to assume the tricycle wouldn't have a seat...

Thanks, I'll have to check with the Bike Shop.

Bow Cycle has the Tri Rider for $650
CyclePath has the Norco Parklane for $600

I did see that Walmart in the States had some for under $300, but I tend to agree that the quality will be an issue.

    Thanks for the feedback.

We bought the cheap one based on the number of times we knew he would ride it.

But even the more expensive ones are harder to push. I would also look into some of the bike club ads.

May even consider a recumbent bike, they are much easier to peddle.
