In ceiling speakers, looking for opinions

I am looking to buy some in ceiling speakers. Have any of you got them in your house? I am looking at JBL's and Infinity's in the 8" round's, looking to put 4 pairs in. My plan was to put enclosures behind them as imo this should improve the sound quite a bit from just tossing them up to be free air into the attic. Just wondering if anyone has any input. Thanks.

Is it mainly for background music or is it to really listen to some music at decent volume?

All of the in-ceilings I sold were designed for free air. Make sure you check the specs and ensure that the enclosure you're building will actually improve the sound.

That said, I just installed a pair of the Polk SC6S for surrounds and they sounded great on movies and music. Even cranked on 7ch stereo they held up really well.

No these are just for background music, not for the theatre or surround. But I can see us turning up the volume fairly often so i want some decent sound out of them.

they just have shitty bass.

i have them in all the rooms in my house, nice to have, sounds ok. just low bass. we even have good ones lol
