BlackBerry Pearl 8100 MAPS

Im new to blackberry and I got this phone from my sister. It has a MAPS button but nothing shows when I try to use it. Do I need to buy or download a software in order to use it or is my phone messed? If I need a software, where can I get it (Free if possible).

Do you have a data plan? It downloads the maps as you view but if you don't have data it can't download the maps.

Nope. No data plan so I guess no maps for me...

On this topic, anyone know of a map program that has turn by turn directions that update on the fly?

garmin! its $99 but it works so good. they have a 7 day trial if you are interested.

otherwise there is nav4all that is free but not that great. does the job but thats about it haha

- Telenav: Is probably the best one out there. (Not free, but free trial. Definitely worth trying)
- Garmin: Newer product, but good too. (Not free)
- Nav4All: Ugly, bad interface, but quite full featured and free.

There's a couple apps listed there, that have maps that don't require a data connection (haven't tried them though).
