Default New Audi S4 gets 333hp supercharged V-6

NEW S4 WILL BE A TUNERS DREAM
Supercharged V-6 to pump out 333hp

Audi has just released info on the European version of the next Audi S4 and it’s no surprise that it utilizes forced induction. Rather than Audi’s usual method of turbocharging cars, the new S4 is supercharged and makes 333hp at and pumps out 324 ft-lbs of torque from 2500 to 4850 rpm. Audi claims a 0-100 km run of 5.1 seconds, so the run to 60 mph could be five seconds flat or even in the four second range!

Other highlights include the optional S Tronic seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The new S4 will also include “Audi Drive Select” which will allow drivers to choose from “comfort” “dynamic” or “auto” modes. Depending on the mode the ECU will change the throttle response, the S-Tronic shift points and the speed-dependent servotronic steering. And if the vehicle is equipped with the MMI operating system, the driver can customize these settings in a fourth mode. This system also works in conjunction with the optional dynamic shock absorbers, dynamic steering and the active sport differential, which can adjust power from the left and right rear wheels in just 100 milliseconds so almost 100 percent of the power can be sent to one wheel.

I've always liked Audi styling. A little understated, but powerful. But this new design treatment with the lower "eyelashes" doesn't do it for me much.

Of course, I would happily own this car in a second.

Wow, I'd take this over a 335i any day

I like it. Good looks, nice features like the 7spd dsg, interesting engine and enough power. Pricing had better be in line with the 335i though.

333 isn't that much nowadays. Any word on pricing yet? Wouldn't be bad if it was 335i range... Looks nice though.

    2008 RS4 sedan $66 910
    2008 M3 sedan $53 800
    2008 335i sedan $39 300

I would say the S4 is comparable to the M3, and not the 335.

It looks like .. a DOG faces ...

I think Audi really just "down scale" the S4 to the 335i level .. and keep the 400 HP plus RS series to flight with M3, ISF, C63 etc ..

    Agreed. Doesn't the base G37 have ~330?

if you are comparing US base prices, then sure. The S4 is clearly Audi's answer to the 335. A better comparison can be made with the benefit of knowing similarly equiped Canadian dealer prices

is there going to be a $18k price change between the 335 and S4 in Canada? Even when comparing the 335 cab to the S4 cab, which is probably a better comparison there's a $9k difference, still a bigger difference than the M3 cab.

Consider that an 09 A4 3.2L is already $51K cdn with little options, I doubt S4 will be able to beat 335's in price or performance.

But you just can beat an Audi's interior. Make a BMW look like a Hyundai.

You just need to build cars that aren't ugly like BMWs.

    Don't you care about looks?
