Ever since Athens By Night closed down I haven't really found a good place for Greek Food. Broken Plate was ok, Pegasus was ok, they didn't blow my mind like Athens By Night did. Anyone have any other places to try?

I have yet to find an outstanding Greek Restaurant. My two favorites right now are Ouzo on 4th Street and a tiny hole in the wall in Shawnessy called Greek Plaka.
The food at Ouzo is ok and the service is not all that good.
The food at Greek Plaka is fresh. The Kleftiko is awesome, the service is very good but they close early because they are in the suburbs.
But those I would suggest trying.

Parthenon is my favorite. Not the greatest looking restaurant but run by an amazing Greek couple.

Spiros on 17th has fantastic service / great food. The pizza there is awesome.
I also like Oozos on 4th, the place in Shaughnessy mentioned above and the other one on 17th across from Mount Royal park.

I used to work with a guy who was a true bonafide Greek (born and raised there - came to Canada for school) and he said it was probably one of the best ones in Calgary. He pretty much said Calgary sucks for Greek restraunts overall.
Calgary is so much like an iphone: iCalgary - There's a bylaw for that.

I thought the exact opposite. I have been back to Spiros many times but will never go back to Mykanos. The menu selection was quite limited and the food was marginal.Originally posted by USED1

the best greek take out is at that little gas station on 17th ave west.... domo or something? there is a deli inside with a name, but i'm out of the office right now (my menu is there)
it seems weird that they are slingin' greek food out the side of a gas station, but seriously, it's some of the best take out in the city
