Rogers 6GB Data Plan...

Say I'm in the field, or in some random small town in Alberta... will I get charged extra if I use data on my cell?

Or if there's no 3G available, is there some slower transfer method still available?

no 3G means it uses edge, but the data plans covers all that up to 6GB

Data Roaming charges....

if theres no 3G you go to Edge, but if you are outside of the regular calling area youw ill be charged data roaming

The 6GB plan is good for anywhere in Canada. Like everyone else said, you go to EDGE if there's no 3G.

Like what CRXguy said, the data is all covered throughout Canada, it doesn;t matter what network you use within Canada. 3G or Edge works for your plan.

No data roaming charges if you are in Canada.

Thats whats great about it if you tether with your phone and want to use your laptop or something.

I won't be surprised if VoIP doesn't work very well over wireless data. I don't think the latencies are good enough in today's 3G networks to properly handle a voice conversation. Maybe 3.5 or 4G...

voipcheap.com is what i use for my n95
forget about voip over edge
3G is good and have been using voip since this data plan started.
but the tower hand-offs on 3G needs improvement.
