The Calgary Police Service Targeted Enforcement Unit has
concluded an 11-month-long investigation which targeted
several individuals and their associates believed to have
been affiliated with Ottawa-based gangs, and involved in
illegal drug activities and violence in Calgary.

During the course of the investigation, TEU worked
cooperatively with the Ottawa Police Service, the Edmonton
Police Service, Alberta Sheriffs, Lethbridge Police Service,
the RCMP, the Department of Public Prosecutions and Alberta
    Justice Special Prosecutions.

A total of 25 warrants were executed and as a result, police
seized over $200,000 in various illicit street drugs, over
$40,000 in cash and 12 firearms.

Thirty-four people have been charged, and over 250 Criminal
    Code charges have been laid.

While conducting initial investigations, police discovered a
drug network, which coincided with violence perpetrated by
    several members of the group.

As a result of the investigation, charges have been laid in
connection with four Calgary shooting incidents.

    DOVER SHOOTING
On Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at approximately 7 a.m., police
responded to a call from a citizen that a man had been shot
in a residence located in the 3900 block of 26 Avenue S.E.

The victim suffered two life-threatening gunshot wounds to
his right leg and one to his lower abdomen. He was treated by
    EMS and transported to hospital.

Abdirahman HUSSEIN, Abdulaziz ABDULLAH and Ahmed ZALAL are
charged in connection with this incident. The charges that
were laid in connection with this incident were initially
stayed in order to collect further evidence.

    DOWNTOWN SHOOTING
On Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police
attended an incident involving a firearm which occurred
outside a business located in the 300 block of 10 Avenue S.W.
Several men were seen carrying weapons, and several shots
were reported to have been fired. The victim was
    uncooperative with police.

Mustafa AHMED and Yasin Ahmed MOHAMED (a.k.a. Ahmed NAJI) are
charged in connection with this incident.

On Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at approximately 3 a.m., police
responded to a break and enter complaint at a residence
located in the 1300 block of 13 Avenue S.W. CPS attended the
scene, and heard a gunshot fired from within the residence.
Two men fled the residence, and turned around to re-enter
after seeing police. The men attempted to flee the scene.
Police were able to bring several men into custody, and
subsequently conducted a search warrant on the residence. A
    firearm and ammunition were found.

Abdirahman HUSSEIN is charged in connection with this
    incident.

Well, just because we don't hear about it, there are units comprised of detectives, forensic specialist, gang related specialists that are investigating these incidents.

CPS has alot more units then your regular beat cops. It may seem as if they don't; that is because we only see the ones out and about patrolling our streets.

    I know that.

I hadn't heard of any progress with really any of the shooting crimes that had gone on over the last 5 years though. I guess they really have to get their evidence together to make things happen.

Landed immigrant, yes. Citizens, no. But I doubt they are stupid enough to do it while in landed immigrant status.

Look, not all immigrants are bad apples. But most immigrants are stuck in lower paying jobs which make life of crime very tempting. We just need tougher laws to deal with crime and not slap on the wrist shit.

Everyone on here talk like they are native canadians, everyone should wake the hell up and realize that they are all immigrants somehow down the line.

In my opinion, without immigrants Canada would not be what it is and all you would have is a bunch of cowboys and hillbillies.

I think it just applies to all idiots young gangster wannabes that are retarded. Youth these days is fucked up period, immigrants or not.

Maybe I'm missing something - but what does this have to do with valuing education?
