    Default New MacBooks

anybody else thinking of buying one after this tuesday?

i've been holding out on getting a pro for a while, hopefully they bring in the macbook air look with the black keyboard and magnetic latches instead of the old latch system.......

    from macrumors.com:

lots of different rumors floating around:
    aluminum macbooks
    black keyboards (like the air)
pro will have optical drive on the right side
    maybe dedicated NVIDIA chips

anyways let's see what happens tomorrow....

Keep us posted, I haven't heard about this yet --- I guess it's strictly MacBooks and not the MacBookPros?

I've been wanting a new MBP for a while. I've been chomping at the bit for the current 15" MBP 2.5 the past couple weeks.

no this refers to ALL the Macbooks (including the PRO's).......the macbook AIR not so much.......

hopefully the updates are worth it, i've been holding out for a PRO as well...

    more info from macrumors.com:

The optical drive appears to be on the right side (when facing the laptop)
    - All the ports are on the left side (when facing the laptop)
    - Case does not appear to be tapered like the MacBook Air
    - Power button is in the far top right corner
    - Large trackpad like the MacBook Air
    - Appears to be "latchless"
    - No Firewire port on MacBook?

Nvidia Graphics and Blueray drives is all that has been "confirmed" by what apple has spent their money on

I do hope they add some more to the current macbook because it needs more to justify the price tag.

The MBPs will almost certainly be latchless.

It only makes sense to go aluminum with the MBs to make the whole line aluminum. They are also talking about a price point of $800 for the MBs...

I might pick up a new Macbook if the $899 rumor is true.

    And here's the new MBP

Nice new look to the MBP... I wonder if you still get your pick of glossy or normal screens on them? I was okay with the current latch... I'll miss the 'sleeping' light. But no big loss.

I wonder if they got rid of the trackpad buttons in favour of tapping the trackpad only... i would prefer not.

Let me just say I bought a macbook pro over 2 years ago, and it is the best computer/laptop I have ever owned. I have run windows on it since the day I bought it, and use windows 98% of the time. This thing is 2 years old and can still play new video games, like COD4, World in Conflict, and is simply an amazing piece of electronics. I can only imagine how good the new ones will be.

    Agreed, NateUnibrow.

I have a first gen MBP/Core Duo 2.0/2gb ram from April '06 and she runs flawlessly. This year I got a new battery and upgraded my HD to 200GB 7200 Rpm from 100gb....other than that, and a cabbie asshole dropping my bag and tweaking my case, the MBP rocks.

I am thinking of more speed, C2Duo and new bells and whistles so a new MBP will be on the list. I hook it to my 23HD Apple display at home and it's great!
