BlackBerry SMS Texting Help

Currently have a BB Pearl 8130 and the SMS text messaging is pissing me off where it limits you to 140 characters. Is there any way to change this? My old regular cell phone could even fit more but it would just send the text in two seperate text messages.

I don't think so. Just use BB Messenger! Way better than texting =) ..well if the people you wanna text have BB's. If there is a way to change this I wanna know too.

You could learn to type faster lol so it will seem as if you are sending multiple messages.

what i wanna know is how to set your hotmail account as one of the emails. cant figure it out

I thought that was just a telus thing. I usually end up just rehighlighting the message and hitting reply again and then continue typing. It is kind of a pain in the ass. I was almost positive that blackberry's on other carriers could have more characters in their texts.

Blackberry Messenger is awesome, I don't know why other phones don't have this! It is like MSN between crackberrys.

EDIT: I have no idea how to get hotmail working...I remember trying, but then I just switched to gmail.

My Bold just ends up sending multiple texts if it goes over that character limit. I would assume this issue could be fixed with the most recent OS for your phone?

For setting up hotmail accounts. All I did was log into my BIS and added hotmail?

if you're on rogers just go to email settings... not sure how it is with telus.

I noticed Bell and Telus do this, not sure if the 4.5 upgrade will fix the issue.

As for hotmail, if you have a newer account, you cannot set it up on the BIS.

The limit is set by your provider (though it's usually 160, not 140) and you can't change this number. Some phones as others have indicated make this transparent by sending out longer messages as multiple texts whereas others don't even let you type more than the limit.

Not much you can do about it...
