    Default 2010 Lexus RX specs

No actual images yet but specs and options just released.

The 3.5L V6 engine remains the same, though it's now pumping out an extra 5hp (to 275hp) and 6lb-ft of torque (to 257lb-ft).
The suspension is also carried over, however a new sport-tuned suspension will be available as an option.
The drivetrain is getting upgraded to a six-speed automatic with a Super Electronically Controlled Transmission. Hill-start Assist Control has been added as a standard feature, and VDIM will be available as an option.
Overall vehicle length has been shortened 1.6" (29mm) to 187.8" (4,770mm).
Overall vehicle width has been increased to 74.2" (1,885mm), 1.6" (41mm).
The height has been bumped up significantly, up to 67.7" (1,720mm) from 66.1" (1,679mm).
The wheelbase has been extended 1 "(29mm) to 107.9" (2,740mm).
Curb Weight has increased a whopping 640lbs to 4,510lbs.
18" P235/60R18 wheels are now standard. 19" P235/55R19 wheels are optional.
The biggest thing to notice is the increased height of the RX and the big weight bump, which are no doubt related. The sports-tuned suspension is interesting as well, but there's still a lack of details to what that means exactly.

Not thrilled about the fact that they deleted leather as standard, i guess they're hoping for a very low starting price.

Should be quite interesting to see some official pictures. I really hope they don't screw up the back as they did with the LX. I REALLY don't like what they've done with the styling. This RX looks beefy!

    640 lbs?

Holy shit, are they using a Lead based structure?

Or does it have a retractable hardtop?

They could have bumped the power a tad more for all of that added weight, should be a good vehicle though, but i am also puzzled by the premium cloth. This is a premium suv, why not include leather standard, I expect cloth standard on the highlander, not this.

Wow, that's a lot of deleted standard features.

The curb weight increase destroys the power to weight ratio too. Are they still offering it in a hybrid version?

Sound like Acura's SHAWD is packing on the weight.

Wonder if fabric seats are not for NA.

Hybrid to follow about 4-6 months later, really the only important standard feature lost is the leather. There are wayyy more standard features in the 2010 then the previous generation.

i wished they showed the artist rendering with the small 18 inch wheels...in that pic they have to be at least 22's which makes any car look good.

IMO its weak..cloth seating as standard in a 60k+ suv?

I am really surprised at the extra 640lbs. Mileage will probably suffer and that is the opposite of what they should be trying to accomplish.

Hell even Ford was able to make the new F150 lighter. I'm sure Lexus should have been able to do the same. 1.5" in height can't be responsible for all that.

The RX needs an update bigtime.

BUT this looks a LOT like the Ford EDGE (and a little bit Nissan FX).

Maybe that's why the Lexus 'L' is in a Blue Oval?

    lol

I actually will be surprised if it comes out looking anywhere close to that agressive. Most Lexus' are pretty tame with styling in line with a Buick. This thing (while it looks very promising in the rendering) would look very out of place in a Lexus showroom.

Yah it wont look anything like that as far as I know.. and the blue emblem signifies hybrid. That picture is out to lunch.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

Its too bad that the engine didn't improve much. I already find mine underpowered and with the significant weight increase for this new one, its going to be even worse. I stopped in earlier this week to buy my winter tire package and Ken told me the new RX was going to be even smaller then the current one. Doesn't seem too bad, 1.6" off the length and an increase in roof height (which it needed). Too bad they deleted the full size spare tire. Hmmm should be interesting... might have to cross the floor to the dark side

I hope that spy pic isn't accurate and they're just using the old body for testing purposes. Otherwise, for another bland looker.
