Five years for brutal sex assault

EDMONTON -- An Edmonton deviant who traumatized a city woman he sexually assaulted at knifepoint by beating her with a sex toy and urinating on her was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday.
Raymond Donat Chaboyer, 52, was also placed on the national sex-offender registry for 20 years and ordered to submit a DNA sample for the national DNA databank.
He had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, sexual assault with a weapon, unlawful confinement, assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.
Court of Queen's Bench Justice Donna Read accepted that the victim, who cannot be identified under a court-ordered publication ban, had been abused in a humiliating and degrading manner and said Chaboyer needs help and she hopes he gets it.
Chaboyer apologized in court to the victim; however the 49-year-old woman was not present.
WOMAN TRAUMATIZED
In a victim-impact statement, the woman said she was traumatized by the November 2007 attack and left feeling dirty and has lots of anger towards Chaboyer.
"I felt like a big baby after the assaults because I couldn't stop crying," she said, adding she now has a lack of trust towards people.
According to an agreed statement of facts, the pair knew each other and the woman allowed Chaboyer into her west-end apartment because he wanted to speak to her.
Once inside, he grabbed her by the back of her hair and threw her onto the floor and then hit her in the eye and bit her twice on the face.
Chaboyer then began accusing the woman of sleeping with some other man. She said she lied and agreed she had in an attempt to keep him calm.
He then told her she had lost her power and all of her rights and he was "taking over now" and she was going to have to do what he told her.
Chaboyer also threatened to kill her if someone came to the door and she told them what was happening.
He cut her twice on the leg with a knife, including a deep slash to her calf, and dumped an ashtray full of cigarette butts on her.
FORCED SEX ACT
He then forced her to perform a sex act on him and molested her and then demanded her bank card so he could buy some drugs.
Court heard Chaboyer then hit her on the forehead with a vibrator, causing a goose egg, and urinated all over her face and body.
After that, he stuffed a cloth in her mouth, wrapped a telephone cord around her neck and used it to hog-tie her and left her bound on the bed with her hair tied to a duffel bag.
He then left after threatening to kill her if she moved "even one inch."
The woman knew she needed to get free because Chaboyer had said he was going to kill her that night. She managed to free her hands and then remove the rest of her binds.
She then ran to a neighbour's, but they wouldn't help, so she went to the Jasper Place Hotel and was told they would not call the police and she would have to go to the 7-Eleven.
Police responded and arrested Chaboyer in a nearby hotel.
