Quick question, how long does it take for a traffic ticket to arrive at the downtown location (crown prosecutor)?

As far as I know, there are data typists at all the districts that process the ticket into the database. So, it is generally within 24 hours or so. If a cop ends his shift at midnight, the ticket will be processed when the typist comes in in the morning.

Wrong.
It usually takes around 2-3 weeks depending on the cop
What happened to the data typist? I was told that they were there for that sort of thing.
whoa!! 2-3 weeks? Isn't that a bit long when I am given only one month to pay the traffic ticket?Originally posted by Wehbeast

Yes, that would be quite a while. I was under the impression that the CPS still employed data typists. It must be well under the 2-3 week mark because if you go to pay the ticket at the registry, the current fine number must be an acceptable number for that system and not a fake number or a number that is already used. That has to correspond with the JOIN system and the CPIC.
That being said, again, I dont think the 2-3 weeks is correct.
yes you are given a month to pay but you also have a month to plead not guilty and mail in the ticket!Originally posted by HiSpec

the date between my offense date and trial date is almost 3 months
^ Ok, but thinking logically here; you have one month or so from the date of the ticket to either pay up or plead not guilty. If you were to plead not guilty, they would HAVE to have your information in the database to take that plea and accept it according to the info they have. If it takes a cop 3 weeks to input the data, that would make it virtually impossible to plead not guilty. Right?
Edit: That makes more sense

paying the ticket (no questions asked) is the same as pleading guilty.

well i want to know when the ticket will arrive downtown so I can talk to the crown prosecutor and see if I can drop the demerits.
Or I may consider to POINTTS and see if they can provide me with better results.
Lots of people have been having a very hard time with having demerits dropped. They seem to be reducing the price, but not the demerits. If you want to talk to the prosecutor, you might as well just head down there on your court date and talk to them. You can go earlier, just bring your yellow ticket with you.
oh shit... that is not good news to me!!
I rather pay the fine then have the demerits...
so it is nearly impossible to demerits dropped?
unless your license is going to be suspended, POINTTS is a big rip-off.
i got quoted around $500 for their services, they guarantee nothing except to see your case through to the end. on top of that i would still have to pay the fine which may or may not get reduced. a $200 ticket would cost me around $700 w/POINTTS. my insurance is not going to increase that much due to one ticket.
They don't drop demerits anymore, you might save a couple points, that's it. Call up these guys, for $20 or $40 (depending on ticket severity) they'll go talk to the JP/CP for you and get it reduced... saves you taking half a day of work, at least!

PS. POINTTS is the biggest scam ever.
alright, i guess i will give them a call tmw
I got a speeding ticket for going 120 on 22x right infront of spruce meadows about 2 months ago. My mom got this lady from church that fights tickets and such, paid 250 ontop of my ticket. got the entire ticket off my driving record but still had to pay full price for the ticket.
My dad got a ticket a month later and that lady said it's getting harder and harder to fight tickets and reduce demerits now.
i always go downtown when i get a ticket.. never had a demerit off before but they are always willing to lower the price!!!.. worth the while downtown...

are you able to go down and fight your ticket before the date on your speeding ticket?
I just got one that says Dec 2nd as my date but I cannot make that day .... would i be able to go in earlier and try to get some demerits and/or $ knocked off?
i think you can go in earlyer just bring the yellow ticket.. stand on the yellow line and wait your turn...sit...they call you into one office....sit....call you into another office for the final call on your ticket and tell you how much they lower it...
but dont quote me on going earlyer
