If i make myself fat, i get a free seat. HOWEVER, i'm "blessed" with being 6'3", yet i have to cram into a tiny ass, backbreaking seat.
Let me get this straight -- YOU can make yourself thinner, but wont, so get a 2nd seat for your enormous lardass, where i CANNOT make myself shorter, and dont.
GET BENT

Thanks for the 14 years of LOLs. Govern yourselves accordingly and avoid uppercut reactions!
i see both arguments...And honestly, what is one extra seat on a flight going to do to a airlines revenue. Airlines have hundreds of empty seats daily. They should just find a flight that isn't fully booked and find the fatty a extra seat.
I wish I had link to this but haven't we all seen the Simpsons episode on this?
Purdy funny it was!
Fat is a symptom of poor lifestyle choices, IMO.
If you eat too much and do not take care of yourself, that is your problem.
I see people who hit the gym 3 times a week but still cannot seem to grasp the concept of healthy eating and they wonder why they are fat / overwieght.
I think our North American culture of excess and glutony as a whole is to blame for the obesity epidemic but we could debate this all day.
Also, my old tax teacher was the one who sued Air Canada for not offering her a second seat on the plane because she was so overweight. She must have been like 350 lbs. You would be eating a bag of chips or something during her 5pm class to hold you over until dinner and she would come by, stick her fat hands in the bag and say something like "oh...this medication requires me to take it with food..."

This is pretty rare though. The fact is, in 99.5% of cases if someone is overweight, it's a lifestyle choice they have made and it garners little sympathy from me.Originally posted by Rat Fink
For some people it's a disability. I have a friend with actual thyroid problems.
Here she is...the old tax prof who got canned from U of C:

She is not disabled. She is obese. She eats at wendys and mcdonalds....end of story. In my opinion.

So much for capitalism... make way for socialism.....
If you cannot fit in a seat then you pay for two... not the airlines problem you are obese and need to travel.
Same thing if you require an aid... sorry two people two seats... pay the man. Sadly I see this getting abused...although if I were a business I would look at each circumstance and decide accordingly.
Now I could understand if someone needed equipment or something then I could see being a little more lenient...
Even with "thyroid problems", the thyroid does not make calories. We're not talking about "large" people, we're talking about "FUCKING ENORMOUS" people. Get it under control.

Pathetic imo.
The owner of my company owns a helicopter and often for charity auctions in the city he donates an hour to tour the city for 4 people. This past summer he was at the airport when the 4 people showed up and he said the two guys were about 350lbs each and the two women were about 250 each.
He told them that that was why so many private planes and helicopters were going down was because they are designed for an average passenger weight of 180lbs, not 300. He refused to take them up. They were mighty pissed but so far he hasn't heard back from them about it. He thinks they were either too embarassed to complain to the charity or they're getting a lawyer in which case he said things could get fun. lol
^^If this goes to court, your boss will win. It's not about discrimination at that point, it's about safety. Any helicopter pilot would have refused to take that much weight on board, it puts everyone in jeopardy.

hahah now on travel websites there will be a checkbox option for Obese people.
"looks kinda like a hair cul-de-sac"
Yah thats some bs, im like 6'4"-6'5" 250lbs, i should get a free seat too? infact, i'm suing every major car manufacturer on the planet, since i dont fit in there vehicles either. i should get a free custom fab'ed seat rail and a low profile seat. It's outrageous.
Extra space and weight costs fuel, and fuel costs money. The actual disabled should get a break, otherwise, cough off with the cash.

I do get great service there, especially when I mention my name, haha.
imo if they can spend money on twinkies and mcdicks they can cough up extra coin for 2 sets for their fat asses.
I love when fat people order Diet Coke. I just look at them and think, "You fucking liar."*
