    Default Dry DSL TekSavvy?

I'm looking to get a dry DSL connection.

From what I’ve found TeckSavvy seems pretty good. 6M/1M 200G/month & $10 for 100G more

Start-up prices kind of suck (about $157) but it pretty good after that.

    TeckSavvy

Anyone have experience with them or any other company (besides Telus and Shaw)?

Shaw nitro and extreme isn’t available in my area so they aren’t options. I don't want to continue with Telus.

Forums @ http://www.dslreports.com/ is the place to go for that kind of information.

Edit: I hope it's ok to link other forums here, they're not car-related or local or anything, just ISP dorks...

Wow that's really cheap! How did you pull that off?

I was under the impression you had to have a Telus phone in order to get High speed internet.

    Thanks for the reply!

How do you find the customer service (after coming from Telus I don't think anything could be worse )?

How much do you pay for Band rate? (if you don't mind me asking )

    What are your speeds like?

Overall are you happy with them?

Why not get some wireless like terago? or Platinum, or many of the other 100 of them?

We use alot of wireless accross Alberta and Sask, its pretty reliable, fairly cheap, decent ping (40-100ms).

And does teksavvy block ports (can't seem to find an answer on their site)?

Wireless is ok until you want to actually "use" your internet connection... http://www.xplornet.com/legal.php make sure you read their FAP

That is how is it with all services.. Shaws FAP is fucked also. lol
xplornets usage has alot to due with their Satallite connections with are very expensive for bandwidth.

    Shaw:
60 GB combined a month.. isnt horrible.
    5Mbps down / 512Kbps up

About 30hours @ 550KB/s will use that up (so basically 2 days of downloading).

Its going to be hard to find a decent service other than shaw/telus that wont be restrictive in its use.

For business use, or regular websurfers its more than adaquit(sp?)

I have had a dry dsl loop from Telus for about 3 years now. I just called in and told them I wanted faster internet. They offered me the 6mpbs internet for $25/month on a 1 year contract with a free modem..

ive never had any problems with Telus, speed is great and never gives out on me.

    Thanks for the reply ronaldo.

I haven't had the best experience with Telus. I've been with them for over 3 years and they only upgraded me from 1.5M to 3M for the same price.

    I'm going to give Yak.ca a try.

They have a lower setup cost and offer unlimited downloading on 6M/1M line.

If they don't turn out good, on to Tecksavvy I guess.

Hahahah Yak was fail... it took them a week to realize that they don't offer dry DSL out west!

    Signed up with TekSavvy.

It's gone well so far... confirmation of connection date in 2 hrs and the date is sooner that what Yak had said!
