You mean registration right? Go fight it. You aren't going to get a definite answer here.

I forgot my insurance slips at home 3 years ago, they gave me a ticket. Went down to see the CP the very next morning with my proof of insurance and had the ticket thrown out.

that was 3 years ago tho...

The ticket is for not being able to produce proof of insurance.
You weren't able to produce proof of insurance
Why do you want this ticket thrown out?

You DIDN'T get a 'no insurance' ticket, that would be a different matter. This ticket is SPECIFICALLY for people the police believe have insurance but are not carrying proof of it with them. I think this is your exact situation.

That's the size of it. Just be thankful they didn't impound your car and give you the "No Insurance" ticket as well. Yes, it would have been tossed but it's still a pain in the ass. Just pay the ticket as it will not affect your insurance rates.

    Important distinction.

The failure to produce proof ticket exists because, while it isn't as serious as having no insurance at all, you still absolutely need to have your insurance information at all times in the even you get into an accident. This ticket is to ensure that people are mindful of having their insurance information with them in their vehicle.

I got the exact same situation because I forgot to switch my new one with the old one. So it will not affect my insurance, and there is no way to fight it?

The more I think of it, the more I really don't like this "no proof of insurance" ticket B.S.

IMO, if you can't provide proof, you should get a "no insurance" ticket, which should be rescinded when you supply proof at the police station, or to the prosecutor.

We make it far too easy for a person to not actually have insurance, but BS their way through it.

Because sometimes Time/hassle > money. If a ticket is like $100 and there's no demerits involved, you're better off just paying it than wasting 2 hours at the courthouse. The crown prosecutors only work from 7:30 am - 2 pm too. Chances are they will only reduce it and most likely not more than 50% anyways.

    The ticket is ~$170?
It would take me a 1/2 day to travel and take care of the ticket
1/2 of missed work =$260 to me.

    That's why.

    $260 * 2 * 260 (working days) = $135k/year

Who says there is no money in insurance?
