Looking for External hard drive to transfer 20-30 GB of info from my old PC to a new one, then to act as back up storage.
Interested more in a USB one I can plug in easily...

Right now u can buy a new Western Digital 250GB My Passport™ Essential™ Portable Hard Drive, USB 2.0 from memory express for 129.99 or a Western Digital 320GB My Passport™ Essential™ Portable Hard Drive, USB 2.0 for 159.99 or u can purchase a bulky one (Western Digital 750GB My Book Essential External Hard Drive, USB 2.0) for 189.99
are you looking for portable or just external-sit-on-your-desk?
heloc that shit
I'm just looking for something I can plug into my old computer, drag and drop all my files, then plug into my new PC and drop the files in (i.e. documents, pictures, videos, MP3s). I would then keep it as a back up for all the pictures and videos.Originally posted by lint

Pretty basic stuff, just can't seem to find one less than 150-300GB, and I don't really want to spend that much.

You can purchase an unknown hdd brand name from futureshop since u say u need something lower then 150gigs. Right now futureshop is selling a 20gigs hdd for $60, this is all I found

I can't say if those hdds are good or not since I have never used them, u could also try to find some on buysell.ca or kijiji.com, here's some for example

If you're just doing that and only need 20 gigs or so, you could always burn the data onto a few DVD's instead, at least until you get the cash to pick up what you need for backup......Just a thought.
I got a nice USB 2.0 Simpletech 750 GB for $99 at BB last month.
Might as well spend a $100 and get something useful.
Bump, I need one of these badly, and don't quite want to spend $150 on a new one.
Any leads?

Not sure what you're doing, but someone went to a bit of trouble to pull a bunch off kijiji for you and some are still there. $50, and it's negotiable, for a 320gig external drive seems OK to me( http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-s...QAdIdZ79570074 ), especially if you're as desperate as you make yourself sound.
Call the person. Do a little legwork for yourself. They're out there. But if you offer $30 to someone for their 320gig drive, you'll probably have no luck.
I just paid $109 for a 500GB Western Digital mybook from Staples a couple weeks ago.
