Default Woodworking: Best Place to Buy Solid Hardwood (Not Flooring)

Recently I've been doing more and more woodworking. I've been buying mostly from Windsor Plywood and the like, but I'm wondering if there are better places to buy?

Someone mentioned Timber Falls before which I believe is a Mill selling rough lumber which I'm planning on checking out. Any other woodworkers on here? Where do you buy from?

I've heard sometimes you can find larger quantities at auctions. I've done some searching, but again, any info is appreciated.

I've heard of Black Forest, haven't had a chance to check them out yet. I believe PJ is wholesale and I think you need a business to buy from them.

I'll have to check out Black Forest though when I'm down in the SE next... any others to check out...

Also, if anybody knows someone who mills, please let me know. I will buy rough or s2s lumber. Thanks

On a sidenote, I'm also looking to increase my clamp collection. If anybody has any for sale, please let me know.

You could try Lee Valley, I bought some nice knives for dad there. I'm pretty sure they had a good selection of hardwood as well.

I buy from PJ White as I am friends with one of the sales guys. Much better pricing than Windsor and Black Forest.

Depending on what you are looking for you can get surfaced oak and maple from Home Depot and Rona, but depensd on the size you require. Also much more expensive than rough lumber.

Do you have to have a business to buy from there? On average when I buy, it's around 20-30 bdft... I thought I saw something ontheir site about only selling commercially in larger quantities?

Beyond must be getting a little classier these days...I would have expected the ambiguous jokes to be flying by now.

Yeah, I think at one time you could buy some hardwood there.
I think I am going to try set up a commercial account at PJ. Seems they have the best price/selection.
