Default xbox won't connect to PC

    Ok.. I'm losing it.
My Xbox has a wireless connection
my laptop has a wireless connection.
    the router is inaccessible.

    running Vista.

Xbox and laptop both connect to the internet just fine. But I can't make them talk to each other. I'm pretty new at this so please take it easy on me.

Media connect extender can't connect using the 8 digit code supplied by the xbox.

How to I share music and videos to my xbox? Please help 'cause I'm apparently dumb

    Thanks in advance

Get Townky or TVersity if you ever plan on watching videos.

Mibz: I don't know how to do that

Zero: When the extender is trying to connect it says that it has to allow certain programs through windows firewall.. I allowed them, does the firewall still interfere? and if so, how do i fix that?

bspot: thanks.. I will look into those once I actually get the damn systems working together.

It still interferes. I was never able to get it working without turning off the windows firewall altogether.

That said, after a week of getting mad at 99% of my videos not playing due to their format, I switched to TVersity. Infinitely better.

When you are setting this up on your computer something should come up saying xbox 360 extender found or something and then you double click on that and you will have allow the xbox to access the information from your pc.

Check for new hardware, once everything is connected and you are trying to enter the information.

    Did you look at this?

home premium / ultimate for the media center extender

any version for sharing through windows media player

you said media connect extender which isn't anything, its either media center extender or windows media connect

Regardless, its still 10 times better to use TVersity unless all of your media is in WMA format.

Vista and XP running MP 11 are the same, make sure you turn on share media in 'library'

then goto your network settings, you network probably says 'private' you have to change it to 'public' for it to work.

Thanks!! I'll try this once I get home.

ninja edit: and I did enable sharing on Mp11 prior to trying to set up windows media center.. it didn't try changing the network setting to public though.. that might be it.

Running a hardware firewall (router) the windows firewall is just annoying, it offers you no protection that the router's firewall hasn't already given you, just disable the windows irewall all together.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.
