Does anyone use a steamer rather than an iron to remove wrinkles from clothes? Does it work well? Just looking for info before I buy one.

used them in retail for shirts and jackets. works great if you have a lot of shirts and just want to freshen your jackets.
My buddy and his wife got a really fancy steaming machine for his wedding. He says he hasn't ironed since. I can't remember the name, but he said that it was bought from a upper end menswear store in Calgary.
Works really well on t-shirts and pants. If you have any dress shirts I find you need to iron them still. Once ironed and if they get a small crease hanging in the closet the steamer works well at gettting them out.
you're not using it right if you have to iron your shirts
I find it works well for everything.
but nothing beats dryclean for your dress shirts and dress pants.
Sweet. Guess I can be lazy afterall. I really do hate ironing!
Are you sure that isn't because he's married now, and not the machine?Originally posted by Davetronz

only thing is if you want collars nicely pressed or dress pants then you'll still have to iron else everything can be done on teh steamer hah even cleaning hah gets the stains right out hah
I tried using a steamer last year and well, didn't really work. I bought it from Linens n' Things and ended up returning it. I found that it's not as crisp/flat as an iron but it did do the job of taking out wrinkles. I ended up buying a $90 iron and man, my dress shirts = .
For those people that have steamers, where did you buy it? I might have to revisit it again
I got my clothes steamer for $29 from wal-mart. It's a white handheld unit from Sunbeam. I bought it to remove window tint the previous owner had put on himself. Now I use it for my clothes, no complaints.

It's not about the butthole pleasures or rusty trombone, and dirty sanchez. It's not about rainbow showers and camel-toe slide... and your Cincinnati bowtie, your Arabian goggles or the hot carl and pearl necklace... or pussy juice cocktails, and the jagged-head dildos, and the double-decker pussies.
i bought mine from london drugs for about $100. Super easy to use and works great...
Now do you guys steam regular shirts, polo shirts, or dress ones? I'm having a hard time with dress shirts (gotta wear one everyday)
Got a pretty high end steamer, but its only useful for shirts, sweaters etc..doesn't work to well on dress shirts.
no offense but this is just hilarious for me to hear. this is not an iron so you have to approach it differentlyOriginally posted by TYMSMNY

shirts
1) you need to button up the shirt, hang it up
2) you need to steam INSIDE OUT! place the steam head inside the shirt (steam end facing you)
3) let the steam do the work, move from to top bottom
4) if you want crisp collars and cuffs you need to iron
jackets
**most sports jackets use upholsterer's glue to hold the lapel together. steaming this for too long will melt the glue**
trousers
- hang upside down and steam
I don't know these things! Haven't worked retail nor am I smart. I knew that I have to hang the shirts to steam.Originally posted by yue

Steam from the INSIDE out.. gotcha. I might have to bring a shirt over and give it a try.
