If all you want to do is attach a coordinate system you can use _geographiclocation and either set it from a map or a file. If setting from a map it wants a location to drop a marker, you can then add the CANA83-3TM114 coordinate system. Once you get out of that dialog box you have to set the point for the location and specify the north direction angle.
It works, but it's way more cumbersome than adding it in Civil.

Step 2 of this method does assign the coordinate system. I thought it only affecected the background map for some reason which is why I didn't like it. Too bad it needs a basemap to reference to as well. Civil3D FTW

Why don’t they just set zero to your zero? Autocad will hate it if they’re in mm, so do a project shift… that’s what we do. Work in UTM on 75% of our work.

This would be ideal, but we get created basemaps in different coordinate systems WGS, UTM, even units. We have to send our designs out for approval and they have to agree with other companies Getting these guys to do transformations on their own would result in even more puzzled looks than I currently get.
