Default Any open source HD-DVD/BluRay playing software? (also, trouble with current software)

Well, I just got a LG GGC-H20L BR/HDDVD combo drive for my birthday from my brother, and while the drive itself is working fine, the software it came with (Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3) is having some major issues. After installation, you can insert a HD-DVD or BluRay disc and it'll play perfectly fine. Insert another disc after ejecting the first one (without closing the program or with closing it) and it comes back saying that there is a memory buffer overrun and the program must be terminated. Upon subsequent restarts, all is good up to the point you press play, which is when it craps itself again.

I have spent a couple of days researching solutions to this, have tried everything I can, and nothing is working, so I am wondering if there is any type of open source or freeware HDDVD/BluRay players out there. Yes, I know HD-DVD is a dead standard, but the movies came with the drive (Batman Begins, Transformers, and Heroes Season 1)

I have also run drive tests and the physical drive itself is in perfect working order, using every diagnostic tool I have tried.

    Here's the screen from PowerDVD:

Buy a new computer. In fact, just to be safe, buy two.

Cripes, no sense of humor today?

Fine - what video card do you have? If it's not beefy enough or doesn't have the proper support for HD, it'll cause that error. You should know that anyone asking for computer help should start off with their computer specs...

I am running an HD4870 512. It is HDCP compliant and has an on-board HD coder/decoder with the AVIVO chip. I am linking to my monitor via DVI-D.

As to not posting my computer specs... I'm at school -_- and when I wrote the post, I was just woken up.

    Basics:

    CPU: Intel E8400 C2D
Memory: 4GB DDR2 (OCZ Gold Vista)
    Vid card: HD4870 512 MB
    Motherboard: Asus P5Q-E
    PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 600W

I'll post up a DXDIAG when I get home ~3 this afternoon

I know it's a fairly basic question... but you've uninstalled it and reinstalled it right? No errors during installation?

Have you checked powerdvd's site for any updates to the version you have?

I had a similar problem with powerdvd, it wouldn't play the blu ray movies. All I did was update powerdvd to the latest version, and everything was okay.

    Specs:
    amd 5000+ black edition
    2gb ram
    780g mobo with integrated video
    LG bluray hddvd drive

Uninstalled and installed multiple times, it will play fine only on the first play.

I have used the autoupdate and the manual update many times

VLC doesn't want to play from the drive o_O
