Who does it? How much does it cost? Are there any shops that can take the wheel\tire remove the tire, paint it all in one shot? IE bring in the wheels and pick em up when there done?

Alberta Wheel in the NE does it. Drop off the wheel and get them back in a few days in the color you want. It's not powder coat, but it's refinished and pretty nice, also pretty tough too. costs about $150/wheel.

I called Top Gun ceramic, they said the wheels have to be blasted first then they can paint them. Why would you have to blast the wheels, WTF does that that mean? Remove all the original paint?
They mean sanding (by hand) which has to be done either way if you were to get them painted. They won't sand blast the wheels as it will destroy the wheel.Originally posted by Speed_RaSiR

Wut up Benji, I doubt they have a warranty, give em a ring,Originally posted by szw
Not sure how blue would look....
I plan on just sanding and painting my wheels. Heard its quite durable if you have enough layers of clearcoat on there. And if it messes up, you can either paint-em again, or sand'em and get them powerdercoated.
Is there any warranty on the powerdercoat from either Top Gun or Alberta Wheel Repair?
I saw this silver hatchback on the net somewhere with the black widow kit on and dark blue rims that looked really good, imo

Benji? as in the dog?
more infos... i need to powder coat my wheels too...
I'd be careful to not just "Paint" your wheels but make sure they are "Powdercoating" it.
How resistant is a powder coated wheel to rocks flying at it at "extreme" speeds, versus paint? I'm curious because I want to know if a powder coated sheel can withstand scratches and rock chips? I am still in the process of deciding which set of wheels I want to powdercoat/paint to gunmetal.

Powder coating can withstand rock chips to a certain point, but far more than just painting the wheels. but IMO I would rather paint a wheel to get the certain color I want, powder coating doesnt off as much variety

i've been told powdercoating is about 10X strong as regular paint/clear coat.
when you powdercoat rims don't you have to get them dipped in acid to get all the paint off?
