Walmart changed their return policy? Since when?

Since when did they change it? Ive always been able to exchange opened stuff there no problem, even without a receipt....for a new one of the same item, or credit even if I didnt buy there. Even opened video games without a receipt.

But now? Even if its a game controller or console, heck even a digi cam or alarm clock...if ITS OPENED, they can only exchange for the same thing WITH receipt. Without receipt? They wont do anything, they say its some copyright issue. But if the item is unopened and you dont have the receipt, you can still return it for store credit - how does that make any sense?

All other retailers like Future Shop and Best buy still refund on anything (opened or not) no questions asked as long as you have the receipt. What ever happened to the customer satisfaction gaurentee if youre not happy with your purchase?

Just more proof of it, last night I was at walmart and an older guy was wanting a refund on his opened xbox 360..nothing wrong with it, and he had the receipt and they shot him down saying they could only exchange it for another one.

Are you lumping the inability to return opened software/cd's or products containing them into meaning anything? I find it hard to believe Wal-Mart refuses to do refunds on anything opened. I see it just being products that contain software or products that have a digital license agreement. They can't guarantee that you haven't copied it for yourself then return it for a refund, thus getting it for free. This is has been the standard for a while now, especially with BB and FS.

Since people like you keep abusing their return policies and with the US in a recession, they're trying to cut back on policies that lose them money.

Example: Taking back open products just because someone decides they can't afford it anymore or in your case, returning products that you didn't purchase there for store credit - yeah, they lose money on that.

I can't think of any other company that would really let you return a product without requiring a receipt of some sort.

Return policies always get abused so big chain stores eventually make them strict to avoid that.

Some stores in the US like BestBuy even charge you a 15% restocking fee even if you have a receipt. I think we may even see more of that showing up in stores up here soon.

I think it's the best idea ever. People abuse lax return policies and it just makes stuff more expensive for the rest of us.

I was there the other day! GF bought me a x360 and it dindt have one of the power cords!

I went to the walmart in Deerfoot Mall and told em my story. I didnt have a reciept but just wanted an exchange! The Manager looked through the box and gave me a new one!

A year or so ago i bought a Memory disk for a camera and then returned it a few days later! The girl at a walmart store took and opened it(broke the seal) and when i asked for the manager she refused to return the item that was unopened! So i had her write down all her info on the back of the reciept and the managers name and went to a different walmart! They took it back no problem and they saw taht it was opened! Weird!

Thats what ive been doing whenever i needed an item returned and found that one store wouldnt do it! Id just go to another one and it would be returned without a problem!

These days tho i cant see how any store would return an item that is opened and that has no reciept! Store credit would make sense but to refund full money i dont ever see that happening!
