Rage... your just living a bachelor lifestyle eh? lol

You could go with the 103" Panasonic plasma and that's about 80K or so. And then there's the problem of getting it into your house... you'll need like 6 guys to carry that thing.

Or there are those 71" DLP's which are crap cause you have to buy a bulb every 1.5 years or soo... but I don't think they make them anymore except for Samsung.

And my last solution is getting a nice expensive projector! But of course picture quality isn't going to be as nice. And as for the HDMI issue the less connections and breaks in the wiring the better!

Just get a 30FT HDMI cable or something lol...and they do make them that long if not even longer like up to 60ft?

I'd go with commerical applications even though its more expensive but you'll experience that its probably the best!

Like for example the commerical plasma's are all touch screens used in Malls such as Southcenter, Market Mall, and West Ed. And the functions are A LOT different too but I'd do a lot of reasearch first before investing big bucks into commerical models.

Only 5 Grand for a 82"!? It didn't say what kinda of technology (ie. LCD or plasma) it's based on. So is it safe to assume it's some sorta DLP?

    Yes.

Wonder they use LED bulbs or not.

I actually prefer these over flat panels.

Ya, it's not Laservue unfortunately, and it'll suffer the same low brightness problem of my current set .

The Mitsu DLP's have gotten horrible reviews. Laservue OTOH is supposedly amazing, comparable to Plasma.

He probably doesnt want to go smaller.. i'm in the same boat. I want to replace my 71 inch DLP with a bigger flat panel, not smaller.

Panasonic has just finished a new factory that can make glass up to 150 inch. As of right now the 100 inch and 150 inch are hand made glass.. This new factory should allow for consumer sizes above 65 inch at a reasonable price. I would bet money we'll have a 80"+ Panasonic plasma (built for home use) in the 24-36 months.

Personally I will probably just do a PTAE3000 because I don't have the same light issues that rage2 has.

Hunter Douglas offers many types of blinds and window coverings that can be ordered with a custom template (ie: cardboard cutout of your window) they offer black out shade aswell as motorised.

Good luck getting it into your house unless you have large doorways and a wide open floor plan, no stairs either.
The PTAE3000 is definately a great projector, but if he doesnt like the idea of having to move power and signal up to the projector location and blackout the room. A 65" pana is great tv for a decent price. As someone else said, get 70" XBR... but thats 3x the price for 5 more inches...

Maybe for some houses.. I don't think my house is anything special and I was able to get my 71 inch DLP and my king size bed upstairs no problem.. 80-85 inch would be fine... 100+ inch I can see being an issue though.
