    Default HDTV's bigger than 65"?

So I've been wanting to upgrade my 70" TV this year, and for some reason, the industry seems to have gone backwards... I can't find anything bigger than 65" LCD's.

I've seen some 100" TV's available (for way the fuck too much) at CES and other electronics shows, but they're not really available. Anyone know if any manufacturers are planning on any 80" or 90" models?

Projectors are unfortunately out of the question for me, unless they make windows that can turn black by pressing a button more mainstream.

I'm a huge fan of projectors and I hear they have this thing called "curtains" or "blinds" that can be operated with a button Seriously though... how much would stuff like this cost? http://smartglassinternational.com/ecrange.html Down to 1% light transmission on their SPD line, FAQ says it can be retrofitted to existing (good condition) windows.

Screw you guys, just cuz I have different priorities when it comes to spending.

I haven't had the time to follow new products, or what's coming out, hopefully someone else can tell me what's rumored to come out soon .

Projector would be nice, but it'd be a wiring nightmare for me to get a HDMI signal across the room.

I just looked at a couple big LCD tvs last night... biggest I could find as well was 65". Everyone I talked to told me that I wouldn't find anything bigger.

Just googled this, no idea when it'll come out.

HDMI can go 15 meters, and/or move your components beside the couch...

Ya, definately need bigger than 70, because I wanna wall mount it (thus LCD) to save some room, and it'll be about 3 feet further from the couch. And not baller enough to buy a 20k tv yet haha.

Ya, I can probably change my wiring around to allow for it, but it'd be messy near the couch. I want to clear up the clutter, get a cabinet that can hide the components and store all my games and movies. No wires showing at all.

I've almost got all my HDMI sources in the basement distributing to every room which is saving a lot of space. Used to not mind wiring, but it's driving me nuts now cuz it's such a bitch to vaccuum haha.

It can go much farther than that, and I can pretty much guarantee 99.9% of people won't be able to tell the difference between a 35ft HDMI cable and a 3 ft cable. I've done comparisons between a 35 footer and a 6 footer and there is absolutely no difference that I can personally tell. You can use CAT 6 cable too. After 35 ft you lose the HDMI 1.3a rating.

You can also put your components in a different room if you want, and just use a radio frequency remote to control it all if that helps the wiring situation.

You can run the cable under carpets, behind baseboards, across the roof, etc. and you can buy cable channeling that is paintable to the color of the walls (thats what we use).

Unless you want to spend $80,000 on the 100" Panasonic plasma (needs to be craned into your house and specially mounted), you're fairly limited to 60-70" unless you go with a projector. There are things you can do to make projectors look better in rooms with some ambient light, and a decent projector can throw a better picture than any TV currently can. If blackout blinds or similar are an option, you have some excellent options with projectors.

Turbo M3.... 70" TV. Nope... I'd say we have the exact same priorites. Only mine remain unfulfilled.

When you're ready to sell the 70", give me a PM!

15 meters is 50' but otherwise... spot on. Projectors ftw, just get something with plenty of lumens and a good screen.

Ya, thats why I was hoping manufacturers are moving forward with larger TV's. It used to be every year I can go up 5-10" in size (lol) but it seems like it's just stopped last year.

Ya, that's the problem in my living room. I have a little more than "some" ambient light. There's like 14 windows facing the room so I get huge amounts of sunlight coming in from sunrise to sunset, at times shining straight on the wall where the TV is.

I wish I could get curtains too, but they're not exactly rectagular windows, they have those stupid half circle tops... which is why I can't control the light till they make mainstream powered window tinters haha.

I could paint my windows black, but I think that'll kill my resale.

Plus I do like sunlight in the house some of the time.

There would be no difference. Signal in == signal out. But like I said, I'd like to reduce the clutter.

Is your current TV rear projection or fixed pixel? What don't you like about your current TV?

Haha, I bet it is that the screen is too small, but the TV is too big...

rear projection, and benyl is 100% right .

Picturewise, it's awesome, not as bright as I'd like for daytime (my old JVC 61 was brighter than the sun shining straight on it lol) but the picture is awesome.
