    Default Pick-Up Basketball

Anyone play basketball on a recreational level around the city? Just looking for pick-up games maybe once a week. Hoping to start playing ball again and to get back in shape.

Indeed. Though I haven't made a weekend visit in awhile, but I remember that it used to always get busy this time of year with high school basketball starting up and everything.

not just weekends but it's probably better odds of meeting enough people. four of my friends play on weekdays and they always find enough for 5 on 5.

yeah talisman is usually a good place for pickup, altho sometimes the compition isn't that good.. sometimes it was full of highschool kids playing ball, but they can either be decent at bball or really suck ass.. and playing with people who don't know how to play bball sucks...

Weeknights are tough though because they usually have men's league games taking up at least 3 of the 5 courts with kids gymnastics and badminton in the other two.

Ya, I would avoid Talisman Wednesday nights for sure. I play men's league and they take up pretty much every court Wednesdays.

Mt. Royal has some good pick up. U of C can be okay sometimes too.

Check out playing rec league with Calgary Sport and Social Club.
Prices are decent, games are once a week.

I've never seen anyone else playing at the Golds in Northgate, I'll go in there every now and then.

I'm interested. I was gonna bump the 5, now almost 6 year old, old U of C basketball thread. Maybe I'll do that now...

So it's generally empty eh? Good spot to go and shoot around atleast I guess. I go to Golds Northland, but I'd take a shot over for some hoops.

Yeeahhhh boy. It's on! I'm totally down for some weekend times... maybe we can set up something at gold's for a drop in type thing. I used to work at the other location so I'll see if I can get an in there.

I usually go during the day on my lunch break so it's generally pretty dead in there in general.
Bring your own ball, the two they have there are odd-shaped, flat and have no grip on them anymore.
