    Default Fido users and blackberrys

Is there any fido users that use a blackberry? If so how can you use all the functions of a blackberry if fido does not offer the phone?

I know every locked phone that I had resulted in not being able to use all functions of the phone. Would this be the case if I got a rogers blackberry and just unlocked it?

    Thanks

Well you wouldnt be able to get push email/pin messaging etc. Pretty much everything that makes a Blackberry a Blackberry.

I think I read on howardforums though that Fido is going to be bringing back Blackberry's and Blackberry Services within a month or too though

If that happens then you shouldnt have a problem using the full feature set

Yup, read as well - wait for Fido to release their own Blackberries early 09.

Fido offered BB service a while back. Then axed it. Now it's coming back. If you had an old BB plan from the past, then you'd still have full features.

Has it been confirmed that they will bring blackberrys into their line up?

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 will be launching as Fido's Third out of 3 Smartphone that will be offered in 2008.

Second week of December the 8120 will be $0 on a 2-year Agreement with a Data Option (BIS ones coming soon!)

In Q1 2009 the 8220 will be launching at $50 on a 2-year Agreement with a Data Option (BIS ones coming soon!)

Both 8120 and 8220 will be aimed at promoting Fido UNO with the 3 other UNO phones Fido currently offers.

Yup, should be here within a week (the 8120).

That's like yelling at GM and buying a Chevrolet. They still get your money.

That's a pretty weak selection of blackberrys. Would there be a way to unlock a rogers blackberry and then lock it to fido?

When they get their Blackberry services up and running you dont need to have a Fido locked Blackberry to use it. Any unlocked Blackberry should work

Why wouldn't Fido just bring out newer style berries? The pearl is so outdated.

I have a pearl on fido, just got the unlock code for a rogers phone. I really like this phone! I can't see myself getting rid of it until the 64gb Iphones come out (who knows when that will be!) I just use it as an organizer and for its great text messaging. Good size and weight too - durable.

Do you know how many versions of the Pearl there are? That's like saying the Curve is outdated because it came out for Rogers like 2 years ago. The newest version of the Pearl I believe is the 8120 which I think is pretty new out. I'm not sure about that but I think the older one was the 8110 or something like that, can't remember.

As stated above, at least the pearl is the 8120. Original was 8100, also have 8110/8130. So it's not like Fido is bringing the oldest thing on the market.

And their target market with new Fido is not really the "business-user" that would you would think would use a Curve/8800/Bold style...thus just the pearl and pearl flip for now.

Anyone have any concrete info on them getting BB service at least? I have the city fido plan that i'm reluctant to get rid of. Have a blackberry will really help out with work etc.
