    Default Electric Shaver Recommendations?

    Hey everyone!

I'm trying to get my dad an electric shaver for Christmas since he's been bitching about having to change blades frequently. Does anyone have any recommendations or can I just naively assume that all shavers are built the same?

Also, what's the difference between the linear shaver and those tri-circular ones such as this one?

    Thanks!

    Ninja edit, nice try.

All I can say is that you get what you pay for with electric razors (ie, don't go cheap).

And it might be a good idea to pick up some replacement blades for it, because they might get hard to find after he's owned it for a while. And after they dull, the blades tend to pull more than cut.

    Damn! You got me.

As for the blades, do they have a longer lifespan than regular razors?

    EDIT:

Here are a couple that I may buy:

Oh yeah for sure, you might need to change them out once a year to every 18 months, or whenever they aren't cutting as well.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check out other stores like FutureShop, but with time running out, I think I'll get it at LD.

i bought one in that design about a month ago and returned it. I don't think tha head design is for everyone, it was horrible for me. Not only do I feel like I am going to break it if I push too hard, but I have to push on it hard down to actually get the contact that I need. Since it is in a bowl shape, you have to press down for any contact to be made on the inside of the razer, otherwise only the edges touch your skin.

I actually gave up on an electric shaiver and bought a shower mirror instead. Using a regular blade while taking a shower gets me much better results and no rash like I get with an electric.

Linen and things had 20% off the Braun a while back. I already had one so I didnt pick one up but 20% off is a good deal, as the coupon didn't apply to the razors.

Whoa... Looks old school. Where would you get this? Isn't it a bit dangerous too because it's like using a knife?

Thanks for all the help guys!

So today, I went to LD and bought this for me daddy:

Philips Speed-XL with Digital Display Electric Shaver - HQ8290/18

    • Precision Cutting System
    • Reflex Action® System
    • Speed-XL shaving heads
    • Super Lift & Cut® technology
    • Individually floating heads
    • Corrosion free heads
    • Hair collecting chamber
    • LED multi-purpose display
    • Silent power
    • Washable and rechargeable

Have no idea what any of these mean but it cost me $150. I think this is suitable but I am interested in one of those safety razors for myself.

So long as I don't accidentally off myself.

I have one model older than this I think, works pretty well; nice close shave, battery lasts for ages, and really easy to clean.

It is however pretty difficult to shave with if you let the stubble grow for more than a couple days (has trouble with longer hairs) and takes ages to shave especially around the neck area for longer hairs. If you use it every day it works very well though.
    Go Flames!
