Default Lcd Tv Buying Tommarow (quality)

I'm going to be buying an LCD TV this year (Boxing Day)

There are only acouple I'm looking at but what gets me is the contrast ratio...some are 10,000 to 1 and others are 3000 to 1 how do i choose? Or am i spose to look for FPS?

I'm lost. The TV is going to be 65inch or bigger.

Sometimes you have to take a chance, whether that be on someone, or something!

LCD contrast ratios are not real.. they are "Dynamic" contrast ratios.. don't bother looking at the numbers as they don't mean anything at all.

Plasma's will have better colour and picture quality than LCD's... but they will have a little glare on the screen because the screens are glass, not plastic. If it's going in a room with a lot of natural sunlight I would go LCD. If the lighting is controlable or it's going in a basement I would go Plasma.

Here's some options for you that will vary in price from most expensive to least.

    $7000ish PRO151 (Pioneer Elite 60 inch Plasma)
    $6000ish TH65PZ850 (Panasonic 65 inch Plasma)
    $2500ish PN58A550 (Samsung 58 inch Plasma)

All of those will destroy the TV that you linked.

If you are going with an LCD Sharp and Sony are the only good brands that go that large. The Sony KDL70XBR6 is priced at $20,000. The Sharp is your least expensive large screen but as the other poster mentioned I would not buy an LCD TV that size with out 120hz. I would take the $2500 Samsung in a heart beat over that Sharp for less money.. but if you do want to stay with LCD you don't really have any other options in that size and price.

    Hope that helps.

Every company measures their contrast ratio's differently, don't may much attention to those. If you can go look at them yourself and read as many online reviews as possible from reputable magazines, etc. and make up your mind that way if time is not on your side.

The 65" Aquos is a great TV. It's the older model, but the difference is negligible compared to the newer $7500 model. I'm picking one up for myself tomorrow too .

    It doesn't have 120hz, but 120hz is overrated .

Good luck trying to get that tv. There's 1 in the entire city and no rainchecks. Stores aren't even open for another 30 minutes. What a scam.

Update2 - there's none at all apparently they all sold out out east. Anyone manage to score one?

    I got the Samsung 1080p 40" Flat-Panel LCD HDTV** (LN40A530) - didn't think extra $500 for 120hz was worth it.

    $750 including delivery.

    Shaw HDPVR DCT3416 (w/hdmi port) $397.99

12 hz is not overrated by any means, its multiple times better then 60hz.

Vision south location had alteast 2 of them an hour or so ago, frickin' huge ass box lol.... think they were $3500, not $3000 like FS/BB.

Maybe they'll price match is later this week plus visions was taking rain checks on all non-limited items.

No. I think 120HZ is overrated right now as well. I was just kind of making fun of the guy that said 120 is multiples better than 60, lol.

that's not really accurate...the price difference for me was about $300 to go up to a 'W' series Sony rather than the 'S' series (46")

im looking for a new tv too as well
    larger in size 58'' min

im thinking of the panasonic th58pz800u
    i love the dark blacks

the reviews said the th65pz850u lost some color quality or somin and ranked the 800series higher.

heres the link i think it gives a nice helping hand too it.
and to me plasma and lcd after reading that new innovations there are basically are the same quality. no plasma is better in color no more in my opinion.

i still want to wait for those new line sharp tvs to arrive though. since i still love my lc52d62u
