Question about Car Written off

Hi,

My friend got in an accident and now his car is a write-off. He was wondering, when the insurance company offers him $ for the car, is the offer negotiable or up for discussion at all? Or is it whatever they tell you is what you get?

Is it typically just black book price they give?

Its negotiable. If he doesn't thinkt he offer is fair they will typically re-appraise the car, if he still thinks its unfair it is up to him to prove it is worth more (provide comparables, independent appraisals, etc)
