Wireless PS3 Connection Issue

Hey Everybody,

I just bought a D-Link DIR-615 router today, hooked it up no problem and our laptop is working just fine. I then thought why don't I get our PS3 hooked up as well. After going through all of the prompts and selecting things, it won't find the IP address of my router. I called D-Link and they said to call Sony to get the Ports that I need to open. Sony Tech Support is closed for the night and I am impatient. Any help you can provide on this is appreciated?

I know how to log in to my router via Internet Explorer and the the default IP address of it. I know where the Port Forwarding Page is, but I don't know the info that I am supposed to put in there. Thanks!

That's a good router for the price, wireless-n, good range. Getting the PS3 online was pretty easy.

My wi-fi network was up long before I got my PS3. Like a laptop the PS3 finds a list of available wi-fi connections, I chose mine, entered the password and it was online just like that. I remember not adjusting anything in the router set up.

As another route you could also try using UPnP instead of Port Forwarding: enable UPnP on your router.

I highly suggest using a wired connection with the PS3 if you can swing it.

Wireless is sometimes flaky and that can be annoying while playing games or connected to the PSN, the system is very sensitive to timeouts.

at any rate wired or wireless you should set up a static IP on the ps3, and forward the proper ports for that IP on your router.

I agree with ppatko, if possible run a wire to the PS3. Especially in a home setting, you'll find wireless dropouts every time the microwave is turned on. Sometimes even a neighbours microwave will knockout your wireless.

There are dozens of 2.4GHz interference sources in the home. It's a shame they dropped the 5.9GHz range.

I'm having a similair problem, my ps3 is constantly cutting out. Previously it would never cut out and now its always doing that?
How do I fix this?
