    Default Wireless Internet

I am using a LINKSYS wireless g wrt54g router and when
I use my Laptop and Desktop it drops the wireless connection
Is it possible to have my laptop, PS3, and desktop to access
wireless internet all at once without dropping connection?
Is there some configuration I should be doing?

    Thanks

By default the Linksys WRT54G's support 32 wireless clients. So you certainly can connect all of those at once.

The problem your describing has dozens of possible causes. The first thing to do is try and determine which device is causing the problem. If you have access to another wireless device try connecting them two at a time. By order of elimination you should be able to figure out if there is a certain device causing the disconnects, or if all devices experience the problem.

It seems like it is my PS3 causing the problem.
If my laptop is connected first, than I turn on my PS3 the connection is dropped.
should I connect it directly by cable for ps3?

It seems to be a known problem with Linksys routers and the PS3.

Check out this link for a solution: http://maikelv.be/blog/2007/10/27/ps...tion-2/#more-9

i had a similar problem with my linksys router, what seemed to make it work for me was setting it to an actual channel like 3 or 5 or w/e instead of auto.

    Hi All,

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I would post my question here since the previous issue for Cloud1314 was resolved.

I have a desktop computer which uses a Motorolla SB5101 Surfboard modem upstairs. We just bought my daughter this computer which apparently has an internal modem:

    http://www2.visions.ca/catalogue/cat...productId=3827

In order for her to be able to connect to the internet in the basement without using another direct ethernet, modem, cable connection, do I just buy a router, replace it with my existing Surfboard modem and then her laptop will pick up the signal?

I am not too technical as you can tell. This is probably as easy as I think it is, but I just want confirmation. Thanks!

Internet goes into the modem, then connect your modem to your wireless router, then setup the computers

Thanks for the diagram and that couldn't have made it any more clear.

Any recommendation on a wireless router? I was at Walmart so I checked some out and they had LinkSys and some other cheaper brands I haven't heard of. Is there anything specific to look for in one?

He said that he wasn't so technical, plus WRT54G is dated. Get a DIR-655 or DIR-825 if you don't want any problems.

The DIR-655 as mentioned above is what I use as my router, it is absolutely excellent and I have had no problems with it whatsoever, however it is a bit on the expensive side (~$100).

The DIR-625 (I think that's the model number) is also a great router that you might want to look into because it works extremely well and is also cheaper than the 655.

It all depends on your budget though.
