    Default Expired Registration Ticket

So I totally forgot to renew my registration and today I got a ticket for $230. Is there anything I can to get this reduced? I mean $230.00 seems a little bit much considering my girlfriend just got a ticket for no insurance for $130. I would think that no insurance would be more wouldnt it?

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks!

Insurance IS a bigger fine... well over 2 grand. (Around 2600-2800?)

Dude.... you failed to re-register your vehicle. Pay the damn fine.

How long has it been expired for, and were you pulled over for something else? Most cops would likely let it go if you were a few weeks late, unless they pulled you over for other stuff and decided to punish you hard.

your GF got a "failure to provide insurance" ticket, its $127 dollers with no demerits (no way to fight this one)

"no insurance" ticket is bout 2 g i believe, but fightable in court.

Mr Jimmy, me thinks she got a slightly different cause no insurance = $2000 fine.

Actually I went and fought that one and they reduced it by half.

Plus it was $172, not $127 (at least it was about 4 years ago).

There is a difference between fighting it and asking for them to reduce it in exchange for pleading guilty.... I think richardchan2002 had done the latter. You can fight a fail to produce ticket for dl/ins/reg, but why bother? Either you produced it or you didn't, and the traffic commish/judge will tell you the exact same thing.

Yup. When I say fought, I mean I went in and talked to the Crown Prosecutor.

That said, you could also plead guilty in court. Last time I went to court to fight a ticket on a non-guilty plea, they gave me another chance to plead guilty before the session started.

I made this same mistake (3 weeks overdue) and have to go pay/deal with this tomorrow.

The main thing I want to confirm is that this ticket has no impact on insurance, right?

Also, has anyone had much luck getting this ticket reduced? I'd imagine they should knock it down a bit when you were barely overdue, but if they are strict on this I'd rather not wait for 3 hours to find out.

I cant comment on the reducing of the ticket, but the ticket itself is not a moving violation so it wont go on your abstract. Therefore, it wont affect your insurance.
